The Day The World Stopped!

Four years ago this week-particularly on this day we were informed that we would have two weeks off from school. Little did we know that those weeks would turn into months that had us being cooped up in our little New Jersey apartment. That the world would turn into a pandemic that required us to wear masks. That we would not see our friends or family in person until it was safe to do so. That this would be the beginning of remote school. That we would have to be quarantined at home and if we went out to see friends to keep our distance within six feet. That we would end up having home church and that all of the missionaries including our daughter who was serving in Mexico City would have to come home due to the borders closing. That New York would be so quiet and peaceful that it felt like we had her all to ourselves. That everything in the city including Broadway, and the Rockefeller center would be shut down. And lets not forget about the protests......

Yes, it was a crazy summer where graduations, weddings, trips, and even funerals were remote, postponed, canceled, or didn't even happen. March through October of 2020 will definitely be a time to remember all the inevitable but alas we survived. At least some of us did. We pray for those who didn't make it and for their families who endured this time of heartache and pain where they couldn't bury their loved ones. And even though the world felt calmer and quiet with no devastating news such as school shootings it definitely was a time to test our weaknesses. Our faith. Our love for our partner or spouse. Even our remote jobs. And motherhood. But I am grateful to know that we made it. And I hope that we will never forget this time and to appreciate each day as if it were our last. Love, Hope and Peace is always the answer when we face adversity. And I hope that each of us learned something throughout the pandemic.
