Yayoi Kusama- Cosmic Nature Exhibit Part II

Kusama certainly has an obsession for polkadots. Whether they're wrapped around a tree or placed in a fountain it looks so magical. As soon as we entered the NYBG this big starfish was the first piece of art we saw and it is so much beautiful in person. You can view part one of this post with more of her artwork here. This cute little shed filled with flowers was one of our favorites at the Kusama exhibit. Such a magical interactive work of art. You are given a flower sticker and you can place it anywhere in the room. I'm glad we came later on in the month that way we can see how it looks when its filled up with so many sticky flowers. The kids took a while finding a spot because it was pretty full. Noah found the perfect spot and Chelsea took a little video of me placing one on a hanging plant which you can view here. Such a beautiful gesture and her idea came from a dream. I honestly hope this brightens up your week because I still can't get over the red/pinkish color. What a creative mind Kusama has!

Yayoi Kusama- Cosmic Nature Exhibit!

In spite of having surgery (which I'll blog about later) so much fun happened way before then and the fact that we went to one of our favorite artists exhibit at the NYBG was the highlight of our spring. Yayoi Kusama is extraordinary and her exhibit as always was whimsical and amazing. We all went and as a family had the best day ever. We spent all day at the gardens and walked so many miles. Good thing we went before the bad luck hit with my emergency surgery recently! I had these tickets for a month and because I took sooooo many photos will break it up into two posts. So first I will show off some photos of her amazing artwork. From the polkadot octopus to the shiny pumpkins inside the garden. This amazing lady is 92 years old and how wonderful it is for her to continue to take time to express her soul through art. I mean...just look at these photos and you'll see why I captured so much. These pics don't do it justice! So if you get a chance try to take advantage of this exhibit. It'll be on display until this Halloween and it's worth every penny to see it! You can also check out the first time we saw one of her exhibits here. Can't wait to go inside the infinity room again!

The Singapore Orchid Show At The NY Botanical Garden.

We have been in search of spring all winter and when we heard about the Singapore orchid show at the New York botanical garden couldn't pass the opportunity to go especially since these exhibits are on for a couple of months. Noah and I had the pleasure of exploring and learning all about flowers and plants, and although these photos with Noah seem picture perfect (and there's a ton of them) he began to grow weary of just seeing plants.

The Holiday Train Show At The New York Botanical Garden!

The NYBG is a beautiful place to go, but often neglect going as much as I'd like particularly in the spring when the flowers are in bloom, and everything is green! I tend to go when there is a major exhibit going on featuring famous artists such as Chihuly, or in this case the Holiday train show

CHIHULY'S Artwork At The New York Botanical Garden.

Venturing out with Noah all last week was such a treat, and we had so much fun. Ending our week by going to the New York Botanical Gardens to see Chihuly's artwork was the icing on the cake, and a perfect end to our mommy and son dates! The work of Chihuly is breathtaking! I remember looking at some of his pieces in a book at a library when I was in my teens. I remember how he sculptured everything in waves, and how it reminded me of my curly hair! The fact that he too has a head of hair on him helped me realize that I wasn't the only one with bushy hair! Art, and books were my escape from my sometimes not so happy times as a youth, and I will forever be grateful for Chihuly who helped me cope with things that were sometimes difficult to handle!
