Spring is in the air!

Spring is here and the blossoms are in full bloom. The weather is still a bit nippy hence the sweater wearing but walking along the jersey waterfront and along the neighborhood of Hoboken made this day the best! And although he longs to go back to work it sure has been nice having Jon home so that he can hang out with us more during the day.

He's 13!!

Somehow our youngest and only boy is officially a teenager! I literally cried as I helped comb his hair this morning. There are days when he doesn't mind it but he had an alfalfa thing going on and couldn't help but to tear up a bit as he said, "Mom, I got this!" Ahhh! He has seriously grown up and I am so proud of the young man he is becoming. Independent. Brave. Fierce. He truly is our magical being. My solace. Our last teenager to raise. And I want him to know that he can do anything in this world. I'm in awe as I watch him grow and figure things out while navigating in this world. It's remarkable!

Grateful for this journey together. May we continue to raise you better each day. May you share your love in this world for the greater good. And just be yourself every day of your life.

Had so much fun taking pictures with our Jersey boy! Happy 13th birthday kiddo!

We Remember....

It was a rainy day on a Sunday afternoon when we drove to jersey city to pay our respects and reflect on those who lost their lives on September 11th, 21 years ago. Going to the Empty Sky memorial is always a somber space where we see people setting up flowers and ribbons on the name space of their loved ones. There was even one woman who caught my eye and after taking her picture expressed my sorrow to her in regards to her loved one. She seemed strong but could see that there were tears about to stream down her face as she was placing the ribbon on his name.

Even 21 years later we remember. And still shed tears. I didn't even know these humans who lost their lives and yet my kids and I still mourn and grieve for them. Knowing that we live so close to ground zero and having come all the time to pay our respects since we moved to the east is a humbling feeling. We didn't make it to the world trade center memorial this year, but we are Jersey folk and this is our second year going to Empty Sky on September 11th. And it truly was a bittersweet feeling. Here's a little video from last year to reflect....

Water's Soul- A Public Art Installation In Jersey City.

We've been having a staycation and have been venturing out to various places near our neck of the woods. I saw this enormous sculpture on TikTok and wanted to check it out. It's located in jersey city at Newport pier and it's called Water's Soul by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa. It sits at the heart of the Hudson waterfront and stands at 80 ft. tall. These pictures I took don’t do it justice! You gotta see it in person! The kids sat down and relaxed while I was snapping away this beautiful sculpture at different vantage points. This is one of the best public art installations up to date and it is absolutely amazing! The best part is that it faces my favorite city!
