Graffiti covered warehouse in NYC

The only day Jon had off for Spring break was Monday! Just one day! So what did we do...we got into our little car rental, and drove to New York City.

Whenever we go to New York City we usually stick to the comforts of venturing around Manhattan. This time we decided to go to Brooklyn. I feel so bad for having neglected Brooklyn this whole time. I love everything about New York, and we all enjoyed exploring the streets of Brooklyn.

One thing that caught our eye as we went rouge driving around was a place called 5pointz in Long Island City, Queens where there is all this unique graffiti. It's a non-touristy thing to do in the city, but I highly recommend it. From what I read it covers at least 200,000 square feet of graffiti, and they have a tour you can take where you can actually see an artist create his work. It was free for us because we just drove right up to it, and I believe they only offer the tours on the weekends. Apparently they call it 5pointz because it unites the 5 boroughs of New York City.

Here are the girls posing gangster style!
Not everyone may like this work of art, but we appreciate any kind of art, and it definitely caught our eye. It truly was a vision to see all of this in person. It would have been interesting to have seen an actual artist doing some of his work on the building, but like I said...they only come on the weekends. It must be cool to have a building specifically for artists who create art with cans of spray paint is amazing, and pretty awesome.
It was also announced over a year ago that this warehouse may be revamped into high rise condos. The curator & artist Meres is trying to hang on to his graffiti covered warehouse in hopes that it doesn't succeed. So I really recommend y'all seeing this just in case the building gets demolished.
When my better half and Noah saw this they began to squeal with delight! The infamous Angry Birds...
Noah went crazy over this. He loves birds and is all too familiar with this kind of bird.
We sure hope they don't succeed in getting rid of this work of art. There are so many artists who travel from everywhere between Brazil to Japan just to come here to create art. What a talent it must be to just get that immediate inspiration into spray painting a vision of art at that given moment.
It would be a shame to see all of this go to waste...Angry birds was truly the little ones favorite!
