Jane's Carousel Grand Opening In Dumbo!

Oh how we've missed riding on carousels particularly the ones in the city. Jane's Carousel and the Seaglass carousel are our favorite ones to go to in the city and after a year of being closed due to the pandemic have both opened up! We went ahead and decided to go on grand opening weekend! The lines weren't too crazy at Jane's but we did stand in line for about half an hour but you can't beat the view of the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges and the price to ride it isn't too bad. So it was worth the wait! For two bucks you can ride it and it's a good timely  ride. The kids are 16 and 11.5 years of age and they still love riding on the carousel. I hope those days of them riding on the carousel never end. We ended the day eating ice cream and pizza at our favorite spots in Dumbo. We absolutely love this area. There is always fun things to do and see all year round here.

Macy's Flower Show-Herald Square '21.

GIVE. LOVE. BLOOM.

That was the theme for this years Macy's flower show and I just love how it falls perfectly around Mother's Day weekend and this past Mother's Day we decided to venture out to see how their displays and decorations were. Everything looked beautiful and and all the flowers were dreamy and colorful. They even decorated and extended it to Herald Square which had never been done before and we loved it. Both outdoor and indoor installations were amazing and as much as I loved the flower show in 2019 where we were able to interact with the people who were a part of the flower show, it was done perfectly for the season of Covid. We had quite a few laughs capturing all kinds of reactions in photos and of course I always have a blast capturing my people in action all in the name of fun. Spring is truly a beautiful season and I'm so sorry that I didn't post this in real time, but luckily I am documenting it now and I promise the next 25 plus photos are worth seeing!

Grounds For Sculpture In June '21

It had been about four years since we've been to Grounds for Sculpture and since my surgery I have been itching for a relaxing place to go to. So two weeks after my surgery in early June we all went and explored 42 acres of amazing sculptures and gardens. It's such a beautiful spot with so much art. I don't know why I don't have membership here since we only live 25 minutes away. We should frequent here often since we live so close. It's really nice in the spring and summer time. We had so much fun walking all around the grounds and I should have taken it easy because I was pretty sore when I got home. I survived and we had a really great time being together and having a little date night as well as just spending time as a family.

Little Island NYC!

We finally explored the Little Island that cost about 260 million to construct! I remember when they first laid the foundation on the dock and always wondered how it was going to look like. It definitely is unique in its own way as everything in New York is. I can't believe it cost that much to build but in a few ways I can see why. There is an amphitheater, and some food trucks where you can grab a bite to eat. I highly recommend the lemonade! It's tasty and feels good to drink on a hot summer day. There was a little breeze so that felt nice. They also have gadgets for the kids and one kind of reminded me of Alice in Wonderland. It's pretty neat and if I lived closer I wouldn't mind coming here just to go for a walk. Walk, not jog! So if you ever visit the city, Little Island is a nice public park and it's free. You don't need reserved tickets although I would get them in advance online just in case, but we didn't need to show ours and we went at 5pm in the evening! Now for a few photos from our afternoon at Little Island....

MILK Bar In NYC.

Never had we had ice cream at Milk bar in the city before and to be honest I think this will be our last time. It looked better than it tastes but the kids ate it anyway. It tasted as if you're eating cereal which wasn't too bad but when I posted it on Facebook I couldn't help but to laugh when a friend of mine commented that when they tried it it tasted like sour milk. LOL! That was somewhat true to a point and I believe you have to acquire a taste to this but how will we know if we like it if we don't try it right? Well, I'm glad we went and now we can say we've been there eaten that but I think we will stick to eating ice cream at Morgensterns or Odd fellows!

Love Letter To New York City.

"The city still continues to surprise me every day.

How you may ask?

A city like New York, where everything is moving all the time at this constant driving pace right?

It’s like a living organism breathing and changing, and overtime your relationship to it becomes like this incredible romance. At first it’s intoxicating, irresistible and then slowly it becomes comfortable and safe. You have this cellular connection to it, as if you’ve known each other forever. Like your oldest happiness, and sometimes you’re on the outs, and sometimes you’re making up. And every now and then you catch yourself in this transcendent moment where you think to yourself, “oh my God, I’m madly in love with you! And I always will be.”

And I think that’s when it surprises me."

Morgan Library and Museum.

There are so many hidden museums in the city and during the spring we headed right after school to the Morgan Library and museum and what a beautiful museum it is! I can totally spend all my days here because of all the books! Such a wonderful place to take kids and to learn all about art and the exhibits that are displayed. We went when the The David Hockney "Drawing from Life" exhibit was going on. It's also a great day when you see other artists such as Picasso and Matisse. But the library.......that was the best part!!

Wisteria!!

So many spring posts have gone amiss and because I Loooooovvvvveeee to write and take pictures wanted to share these. My two youngest kids are getting old enough to the point where they want to read my blog! They have peaked enough interest as to what I did with them throughout their young years as well as how I've aged through the years! LOL! My youngest daughter took these and I think they came out pretty great. I have never taken pictures of wisteria and when I saw this vine of wisteria in Philly I just had to do a mini photo shoot. It was so fun and I even matched with the wisteria. Such a beautiful flower and although I love summer, spring is also my favorite and I'm so glad Chelsea captured a few photos of me with my new favorite spring flower...Wisteria. And for your viewing pleasure here is little video of a ton of wisteria too!

An After School Adventure!

One day after school this past spring I decided to take Noah out on an adventure and I've always wondered about this building called Divine Missionaries. I finally had the nerve to drive into the entrance to check out their territory and little did I know there was a field of flowers along with a garden surrounded by what looked like a "tomb." It looked so historical and peaceful and as we walked through it noticed a walking trail. Noah had flip flops on so we didn't walk very far but we did venture along the garden and tomb looking cave and Noah kind of felt like a character from Lord of The Rings. It was so cool and it is a perfect spot to just sit and meditate, explore or go on a simple walk with family or friends. Perfect in the summer or spring to venture out!
