On The Last Day Of January In 2019...

Last Summer seemed like such a blur with all the moving, and prepping we were doing for our trip to Utah, and because we were too focused on helping Lexie get ready for college felt as if I neglected the one place where I run wild and free with the kids...and by myself.

Here's To Eight Years Of Blogging & The Reason Behind The Blog.

Eight years ago today, on a cold January morning I finally got with the 21st century, bought a computer, and started a blog to deal with my emotional state of mind, and the abuse I endured as a young child. Sharing my bad experiences through writing is one of those indicators that I'm finally getting on with my equilibrium. Living life in New Jersey for two years with four kids, and no family to rely on close by in some ways really became a stressor.

Pro-Life.

Salt Lake City, Spring of 1995. I was probably about 30 weeks pregnant with Sierra when this photo was taken. I remember the first time I felt her kick, and how I saw her sucking her thumb in a sonogram. I was blown away at how something so small could be growing inside my belly. Sierra was born not long after this photo. She was premature, and I had some complications in my last trimester, and although she was born a few weeks early was able to take her home within a few days. She has now developed into a strong, and beautiful woman. She will be 24 in three months.

Austin, Texas- Circa,1999.

It's been a while since I've written a throwback post, and even though these photos are hidden in a scrapbook without a depiction behind it would like to write a short story behind these photos so that my children can read all about the little adventures they took while living in various cities such as San Antonio & the Capitol city.

MLK On A Cold Winter's Day.

I don't know what it is with little kids, and cold temperatures. You'd think that because school is off that they'd sleep in, and want to stay indoors, but in all honestly because of the blue skies, and sun shining so bright didn't want to stay cooped up in the house, and so we went outside. Although the forecast showed temps were in the low teens with a windchill of -8 degrees I still went outside to see how cold it was, and it was freezing! The weather can be so deceiving when the sun is out! Especially when you look outside the window and the roads are bone dry!

19 & 14.

Today is Lexie and Chelsea's birthday, and I can't even bear the thought of not having Lexie here celebrating hers with us. For the past 13 years she has celebrated it with Chelsea, and now that she is 2000 miles is celebrating with her older sister. It makes me happy knowing that she will be spending it among good friends including her sister Sierra, and that makes me happy! Knowing that she's not celebrating it alone!

Pinewood Derby '19

Yesterday was Noah's second year at the pinewood derby, and it was absolutely amazing! I was overwhelmed at all the scouts that attended. There were at least 80 scouts in the pack! I am used to having about 30 in a pack before our ward in our church decided to disband it, but this pack was huge! The Webelos alone in this pack had 30 of their own scouts. These scoutmasters are passionate in scouting, and I couldn't have picked a better troop for Noah to be in. He learns, has fun, and has friends in the pack that he's known since first grade. It was so exciting to see so many boys and girls cheering each other on as their cars were racing against each other.

The Shortest Date.

Oh how I wish Jon had more one on one time to spend with Lexie while she was here over winter break so he could have taken her out on a proper date. His job permits him to take holidays off especially during Christmas because packages have to be delivered, and since he is one of the best carriers in the city management relies on him to get those 300 plus packages delivered during the month of December.

A Walk Along The Brooklyn Bridge.

I love spending time with my kids, and that's probably why I enjoy motherhood more than a day job, and why I decided to be a stay at home mom instead of a working girl. I love that I am able to do many things with my kids especially when one comes home for winter break from college. If I was still working long hours in the day you can bet that my boss wouldn't let me have two weeks off to spend with my kid!

The Holiday Train Show At The New York Botanical Garden!

The NYBG is a beautiful place to go, but often neglect going as much as I'd like particularly in the spring when the flowers are in bloom, and everything is green! I tend to go when there is a major exhibit going on featuring famous artists such as Chihuly, or in this case the Holiday train show

On The First Day Of January in 2019....

There's something about the ocean that brings renewal to the soul. At least it does for me, and I'd like to think it's the same for my family. Three years ago on New Years day I woke up and felt the sudden urge to go the beach. I love the fact that we literally live 35-45 minutes away from a few beaches along the shore, which gives us no excuse to go. The beach, like the mountains, is the closest thing to God, and because they are His creation I never want to take it for granted. Coming here with my family helps us think about what's to come, and how we want to be in the new year.

Happy 2019!

2018 has come and gone, and now it's 2019! I'd like to think that throughout the past years I always did my best to be a kind, gentle, and loving person to all mankind, and for the most part I feel as if I did. I can always do better though, and I am totally thrilled to be starting out a new year with my family. I'd like to focus on the good things, and stay positive no matter what trials come our way. The past is the past, and to be honest no matter how many times we reflect on it it's good to just let bygones be bygones. Reflecting on the beautiful is what matters, but moving on from all the goodness that was done in past years is good too because that just motivates us to become a much, much better person!
