Thoughts Of A Stay At Home At Age 47.

H. Burke Peterson said, "Do without if you need to but don't do do without MOTHER. Mother is more important in the home than money or the things money can buy. Our Father in heaven wants you to be in your home to guide these spirits as o one else can, in spite of material sacrifices that may result. He created you to learn to be a good mother-an eternal mother. It is your first and foremost calling. No babysitter, no grandmother, no neighbor, no friend, no Relief Society sister, older brother, or sister ore even a loving dad can take your place."

A "Red Carpet" Moment at Dolby SoHo!

This past weekend we prepped ourselves for the Oscars by going to Dolby Soho to experience seeing some of the Oscar-nominated movies in Dolby Sound and it was awesome! The best part of this exhibit was the red carpet that led inside the walls filled with oscar themed moments, and the fact that it was free was even better!

Things That Help Me Get Through The Winter Blues.

There was a time when I felt that self-help books were ridiculous and that I didn't need a book to tell me how to think, parent, or behave. Self-help books may not be for everyone, but I guarantee this one really helped shape me into thinking happy! With the weather being dreary with snowy weather that doesn't last really long can really put us in a bad mood. I thought of this quote from this book and wanted to share a few things as to what can make us get through our days and week.

Saturday At The Temple.

This past Saturday was free of events, and recitals and we finally went to the temple! We haven't been this calendar year, and have been feeling super terrible about it, but oh how wonderful it felt to have gone to the Hartford temple and to have been chosen to be the witness couple. It was a gorgeous sunny day, and although it was cold still managed to capture a few photos outside with my small crew.

What Valentine's Day Means To Me.

So I decided to do a little bit of an "early spring cleaning" and grabbed my little storage box where I store all my memorabilia such as cards from every occasion, playbills, concert tickets, photos, etc. As I was looking through this box I stumbled upon a ton of valentine cards that Jon gave me. I remember when he used to give me a card and send me flowers on Valentines day when I used to work as well as when I decided to be a stay at home mom. We always exchanged valentine gifts for the first few years of our married life, but as the kids got older life and age crept up on us we don't really do the gift exchange anymore. Since my kids have grown, especially my girls I've realized that even though cards, flowers, diamonds, and candy are dandy and all...valentines day doesn't have to be all about that.

Chelsea & Noah's Winter Recital '19.

These past few Saturdays have been busy with drama rehearsals for Chelsea in which she performed in the Little Mermaid Jr. musical for middle school recently, and months of endless lessons, and practicing for their winter recital which was last Saturday. I'm sure these kids are ready for a little break after four months of hard work practicing piano, and three months of drama rehearsals for Chelsea! Yeah...I'd say they are in need of a break, and they both did amazingly great in playing!

A Little Bit Of A Snow Fall.

Well, we finally had some snow this morning. It actually started last night, and stopped around 10 am this morning. It was nice while it lasted, but to be honest I'm pretty much done with the snow. I think it's the fact that we hadn't had a good snowstorm since last year in mid-November, and now that it's February and have 30 plus days until spring don't want any snow right now! I'm glad it's already slushy, and that the forecast for this week is rainy with hardly any more snow.

Two Glorious Days Of 60 Degree Weather in February!

The past two days weather here in Jersey was the dreamiest I've ever had on a February day. Temperatures were in the 60's, and with the sun bursting with rays of sunshine made it feel more like 70! Temps like that definitely called for a beach day, and after the subzero temps we had last week called felt that the kids deserved an outing on the shore. This time I was not alone.

Year of The Pig!

The Shops At Columbus Circle is one of our favorite malls in Manhattan. There is always some art installation happening inside the building. To be honest I come here more for the art than to shop! Oh, and to get my free monthly gift from Sugarfina. They seriously have the best candy. As we entered the mall we saw this cute red pig dressed up in flowers. Such a cute floral installation. There is so much going on here in the city during Chinese Lunar new year.

Frost Fest At Bryant Park!

Although I love my "me" time during the week while everyone is gone I do look forward to the weekends. Sometimes on a Sunday we will go for a drive to the city and walk around, and because the weather was sooooo dreamy yesterday decided to venture out. The weather was so crazy last week with 14 degree temps that felt like -25! We took advantage of the 49 degree temps yesterday, and just played outside. We love the city, and heard about frost fest going on at Bryant Park so we decided to check it out (on it's last day.)

Come Watch The Little Mermaid Musical!

Chelsea continues to have a love for being a part of the musical, and this year she was cast in "The Little Mermaid" as part of the ensemble. Her role as the chef assistant was simple, and sweet and she had so much fun with it. One thing about her is that no matter what role she gets, she always has fun with it. She's a good sport, and loves being on stage. She loved being a poppy flower in The Wizard of Oz last year, and really had a ton of fun being a part of that show. You can tell she has a love for the theater! Especially the Broadway theaterIf you'd like to come and watch curtain call is tonight at 7pm, and Saturday at 3pm. I know once it's over she's going to miss it. This always happens in every musical after rehearsing for two months! Break a leg!
