Waiting For Godot!
One of my birthday wishes was to see Keanu on Broadway and we did! We saw the legendary Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter in Waiting for Godot and it was interesting in many ways. I love that in many ways the writing behind it was referring to God and I loved that about this show. Keanu and Alex need to do more broadway shows. They were all brilliant and amazing in this and I recommend watching it before it closes next year in January!

Stranger Things- The First Shadow
Last weekend we saw Stranger Things- The First Shadow on broadway and it was jaw dropping, crazy good!!!! I was in awe at all the special effects. Every single actor was in character. Noah was glued to the show and never once made a move! We are big fans of the series and have been wanting to see this since it was announced. We waited for the official opening instead of going to the advanced opening. It was a remarkable show and we would see it again and again! 10/10!!!!

Chicago The Musical!
This past weekend we celebrated by 53rd birthday a little early and all I wanted was to go to the city to catch a broadway show and eat at one of my favorite overrated restaurants with my favorite photo booth! It has become tradition to see a show and since my birthday is on a weekday celebrated this past Saturday. After being on broadway for so many years we finally saw Chicago and it was so good. I was bummed that Alyssa Milano wasn't performing that day due to a stomach virus but hope to see her perform in it before her last performance on November 10th. It was a simple and fun evening. The weather was perfect and it always feels great to be back in my city but at times am grateful to have the opportunity to have both worlds. Living outside the city is a blessing at times because of the hustle but my love for New York will NEVER go away. No matter how noisy it gets I will always come back to her. Anyway, after the show we ate at the smith where I Jon had the yummiest burger and I had pasta with hot fudge brownie sundae for dessert. It was a perfect celebration and so thankful to have a hubby who makes me feel good inside and out! Okay I hope that didn't sound kinky! Y'all know what I mean!

The Outsiders Musical!
Last week Noah and I saw The Outsiders musical and it was well done! I'm old school and was looking forward to having it be similar to the movie but they changed a few scenes. It was interesting how they added songs to certain scenes but it was done very tastefully. Noah saw the movie for the first time earlier that day to prepare to see how they would make it into a musical and he was very pleased. We both were. I loved it so much and my 14 year young heart was so happy to see it. It brought back memories from my youth as a kid and how much I felt Ponyboy and Johnny's pain. I still feel it to this day when I see the movie and I felt it that night when I watched the show. Although our lives were similar to a certain extent I am grateful for my outcome to still be here today in my 50's and to have introduced my 14.5 yr old boy to the movie and show. So if you're ever in NYC...go see it!

The Play That Goes Wrong.
After years of hearing Noah talking about the play that goes wrong we finally went to go see it! It was everything I thought it was going to be. British humor and boy do we love a murder mystery! We had so much fun laughing our tushes off. It's always nice to see Noah happy and laughing after a long year of school. Spring break was fun with all the shows we went to and I'm glad that I am able to do this with him. I'm so lucky to still have one kid left at home at my age! I look forward to more dates with my boy before he grows to old and has a girlfriend!

Pictures From Home On Broadway in Studio 54!
Ok-my 70's dream came true. Or should I say 80's dream. I was born in the 70's and grew up listening to my mom's Saturday night fever movie soundtrack on 8 track and then on vinyl. She taught me "the hustle" and I remember always listening to disco music on the radio while growing up. I also remember reading stories in the Enquirer about all the celebrities who went to Studio 54 that included one of my favorite actresses Farrah Faucett. Actually my mom's favorite actress. I admired Brook Shields going to a famous dance club at a young age. Well, here I am in my 50's and finally made it inside Studio 54....to see a broadway play called Pictures From Home. And it was the best!!

& Juliet On Broadway!
So much to catch up on this month but I got to tell ya that this weather isn't very motivating for me to write. With these warm temps we've been having all month long I'd rather be outside. But on the first day of February Chelsea and I saw & Juliet on broadway and it was amazing! Truly on the top of my "most favorite broadway shows" list next to Phantom, Harry Potter, & Dear Evan Hansen. Such an energetic show and the fact that it is Valentines day in 13 days is the perfect month to watch it! I captured a few scenes toward the end of the show when it was ending and when it was okay to take pics! Sitting in the second row in the front did not disappoint!

Miracles Do Happen! Harry Potter and The Cursed Child On Broadway!
When Noah and I walked into the Lyric theatre to have the usher direct us to the seats in the orchestra section we couldn't believe our eyes as we were walking closer and closer to the stage. Our jaws dropped when the usher said, "it's the last two seats in the front row." I was in shock and Noah sat down all chill while I was still trying to take in this moment at how close we were. We were lucky to have sat together because I heard when you win lottery tickets that chances are you won't sit together but the Gods were on our side and we were together and laughed and sat in awe as we watched this magnificent show. We made eye contact, saw how all the magic tricks were played and even saw spit and all! It was the best evening with my handsome boy and the best Christmas miracle gift ever received!

Tina On Broadway!
Time was running out and when they announced that Tina on broadway is closing on August 14th knew that I had to see the show! And I'm so glad I did! I went all by my lonesome but didn't feel alone because when you go to NYC you NEVER feel alone! With all the cars, crowds and horns honking and construction sounds in the city you never feel alone. Especially when your surrounded by a bunch of women your moms age in the theatre who are old school and huge Tina turner fans made me so grateful to have gone and have experienced this moment! Such an emotional story and fun musical all at the same time. I cried, I laughed, and cheered when Tina became a success all on her own toward the end. Her story on broadway was amazing and if you are in NYC during these dog days of summer go! Who cares about the heat! Go! It's sooooo worth watching!

Phantom Of The Opera In NYC!
Three days before Halloween Lexie and I went to our first broadway show after 18 months being closed due to the pandemic and it felt sooooooooo good to be inside a live theatre again. Broadway is definitely back and so many shows have opened up and right now is the time to go cause tickets are crazy cheap! We had such a great time and Phantom was amazing! I can watch that show over and over again! I cried like a baby so bring lots and lots of tissues if you are planning to see it! And if you are curious about the requirements to attend a broadway show, you must provide proof of vaccination along with your ID, a negative covid test and yes...you need to wear your mask throughout entire show. I promise going to broadway right now is so worth it!

To Kill A Mockingbird On Broadway!
I don't know how many of you in my generation read to kill a Mockingbird in high school, and if you didn't, ever had the book introduced to you. I never read it in high school but I do remember seeing a copy of it at my local library when I was in middle school. Never read it, and I honestly never heard anyone really talk about the book. It wasn't until my own daughters read the book in high school, and after watching the movie ( love black and white movies) knew that I had to finally finish reading this book, and see the broadway show!

King Kong On Broadway!!
I will always remember the first time I saw King Kong. I was about ten years old, and remember watching it on television. Back then the special effects weren't that great, but when you're a child you don't care, and everything is amazing in our eyes! Espeically when Sierra & Lexie saw it for the first time in 2005. Lexie was five, and still remember the tears streaming down her face when King Kong was getting shot at on the top of the empire state building. Chelsea was barely born when that movie came out, and she and Noah watched it for the first time a couple of years ago. Now we are all King Kong fans!

Dear Evan Hansen On Broadway!
Last week on a school I pulled Chelsea out of school early and headed to the city to finally see Dear Evan Hansen. I honestly don't know why I waited this long to see the show and I can just kick myself in the butt for not watching it while Ben Platt was in it! I'm not going on a rant on how I should have seen it sooner because this truly is one of the best broadway shows ever. With or without Ben Platt starring in it!

A Look Back At Our "Wicked" Day!
I will always remember the very first time we stepped foot on broadway in NYC. Sierra, and Lexie have been fans of the Wizard of Oz since birth, and when we first moved to Jersey the first thing we did that year of living here was drive to New York to see Wicked at the Gershwin theater.

a belated b'day trip to new york city.
There are times when we've gone to NYC with a plan, and times when it's been spontaneous. This time we pretty much planned the whole day because it was a belated birthday gift for two of our girls whose birthdays were in the middle of January!
We decided to spend most of our day in Soho doing a little bit of shopping, and exploring the stores on this side of the city.
First we went to one of my favorite stores which is Purl Soho. Lexie had never been inside, and I really wanted her to check out this store. She has a huge love for knitting, and crocheting. I personally am not too big on both, but pinning a lot of projects on my pinterest board gives me inspiration, and a desire to be more diligent when it comes to knitting. Lexie has become a pro at it, and she is my motivator. She fell in love with all this fabulous yarn! There are so many varieties to choose from, and oh...just look at the colors!
We then ventured out to the Flat Iron district, and the girls finally got to pay attention to the flat iron building. We have driven past it so many times, but we've never walked towards it.
Isn't it amazing!
Dinner. Where to go for dinner. Being that the trip to the city was a late, late birthday gift for the girls we treated them to Serendipity 3.
Their favorite is always the dessert! If it was up to them they'd eat this first.
and a coke to drink any day,
and then I'll have dessert!
While Jon, and Noah were out venturing Times Square I took the girls to see Mary Poppins. Their last performance will be on Sunday, and it looks like Aladdin will be taking over! We have been wanting to see this for the past three years, but never made the time for it. So grateful we finally saw it, and it was incredible!
There are times when I go to the city, and I feel free. Free by walking the streets of New York without doing any driving. The city is magically lit, and walking out of the theatre a quarter till 11:00pm felt like morning time to me. I could have stayed up all night, but life goes on and we headed back to 'Joisey'.
I personally don't mind crowds, and the theatre district is one of our favorite places to hang out. We love broadway, and are very fortunate to be able to see a show every now and then.
For their next birthday they want to see this show. It'll be very interesting to see how it's performed. I'm sure they won't be closing the curtain anytime soon, because it opens this week!

Ghost the musical
I had been looking forward for this day since early February and I am so grateful for my dear friend Marianne for inviting me. To raise funds for cancer awareness a bus is rented and at least 100 people gather once a year in May to spend the day in New York City to watch a broadway show and have a nice dinner. I was so happy to have been a part of the group this year, and am now officially a part of the clan. I plan on attending every year. This was a treat for me, and I really enjoyed myself!
The day began with all of us waking up early in the morning and meeting in Philadelphia to join others on a party bus.
We had a nice, long talk about what the LDS church, and what its all about. The best thing about the trip (besides the show) was as we were driving around Manhattan we happened to drive by the temple. I was excited and started pointing and saying, "Oh, oh there is the temple of the church I attend, and if you look up you'll see the angel Moroni." He was impressed, and asked me what an angel Moroni was. I explained to him the best I could who Moroni was in the Book of Mormon, and he was even more curious as to what the LDS church is all about. He asked me for some information and told him to log onto lds.org to find out more about what we believe in.
It was so nice to have made new friends such as Cathy from Chicago, and getting to know other ladies as well.
Dinner at Scaletta restaurant was delicious!
Mariann had the veal
I had the chicken (love the small portion of mashed potatoes!)
Yummy dessert! Loved them all...especially the bread pudding!
New York in May is beautiful and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful group of people, and to have spent the day in New York all in the name of research. It was a great day, and I am so glad I had the courage to open my mouth and to have shared the gospel along with my conversion story.
