Noah's First Phillies Game.

This is going to be an easy post because what I have to say about Noah's first experience to a ball game are from the words of Jon's mouth, and Jon is a "to the point kind of guy" where he doesn't give too much detail because he's always "living in the moment" when we go out as a family, and focuses on what he's doing which is good. I have to ask him the who's, what's, where's, and whys whenever he takes any of the kids out on a "daddy/son/daughter date. I personally love taking pictures so that I can document them for my kids, and luckily I'm pretty good at multitasking while having fun so that I can take pictures, and not feel that I missed out on anything.

I wasn't able to go to the game tonight because I only purchased three tickets. I bought these tickets back when school started and because I thought Sierra was going to continue her education at UARTS I figured she would stay home and watch the little ones just like she always has while Jon, Lexie, and I did our "yearly tradition" of going to the Phillie's game while she performs with the Lewis band.

This was Lexie's last performance playing the national anthem with the Lewis middle school band, and for once didn't play the keyboard! She's always played the keyboard, but decided to do something different this year. She decided to play the oboe, and has really enjoyed learning to play it. Mr. Nichols also seemed a little relieved that he didn't have to haul a keyboard in and out of the bus. He said that packing an oboe as opposed to a keyboard was so much easier! I have to agree!

I was happy to have given my ticket to Noah because Jon and Lexie said he had the time of his life. He was definitely being a little kid having fun, and cheering every time someone hit a home run. When the music would come on he would be singing along with the crowd even though he didn't know any of the words. Everyone was saying how cute he looked. Jon bought him some fries from Chickie & Pete's and apparently wanted everything on the menu. There was also a lady selling cotton candy down the aisle, and asked Jon if Noah would like some. He said to her, "Sure if he'll eat it." She looked dumbfounded and asked, "What do you mean?" Jon replied, "See...my son doesn't have a big sweet tooth, and is very particular when it comes to which kinds of junk food he wants to eat. Every once in a blue moon he'll eat something junky, but most of the time it's grains, fruits, and veggies. The cotton candy girl responded, "Can I clone him!" I began to laugh when Jon told me that moment.
I'm a little bummed that I missed Lexie's last performance hearing her play, and that I didn't get to go with Noah to his first baseball game to witness this experience through his eyes, but I'll definitely be going with Noah to games in the future so that I can see his reaction sitting in a huge ballpark, cheering on the Phillie's, and turning down cotton candy in person!
Glad you had a great time son! I love you, and next time I'll make sure this mama takes you out to the ballgame!

Phillies vs. Marlins

When you have four children five years apart you always want to find equal time with all of them. I swear we have more date nights with our children than with ourselves. Luckily Jon and I have the best friendship, and our communication is excellent. We talk about everything! So sometimes our date nights are pushed back a week or two so that we can spend time individually with each child.

Tonight was Alexandra's night, and we all went to a Phillies game. She and her middle school band get invited every year to play the National Anthem for the Phillies. She plays the keyboard, and you can see them playing here, and they all sounded great.
I wasn't able to record her last year because we didn't know that the parents of those who are in the band can go down to the field to watch and record the band play. We did just that! If we could have only stayed in the seats where we stood we would of had a closeup of the game, and possibly be seen on the big screen catching a foul ball.

When they played the Mets last year we sat up in the nosebleeds and that wasn't so bad. No matter how high up we sat we still had a good view of the game. We saw a wedding proposal on the big screen, and many many come here for their birthdays. This was my time to let loose by cheering, clapping, and singing "take me out to the ballgame", and it was a lot of fun! I can't wait until Noah is older so that he can actually have fun, and understand the meaning behind baseball.
I'm grateful when opportunities like this come along in our community for our children because it gives us the time to spend with our child. I count my blessings for having them five years apart because when one graduates college, one will be graduating high school, etc. etc., and that's fine with me. I'll always have a "free" babysitter when we take their siblings out. It was totally meant to be that way, and I love it!
I can tell my girls all love when they have one and one quality time with us, and we really enjoy, and take in every moment spent with our kids. This is one thing I'll miss when Sierra heads off to college.

That's another story.

Happy weekend!

P.S. The Phillies won!

Phillies vs. Mets

It had been quite a while since we've been to a baseball game. This was our first time going to a major league baseball game, and we absolutely loved it! If it wasn't for Alexandra's school playing the national anthem last night I probably wouldn't have gone. I am more of a tennis fan. Yes...I would rather watch two players swinging a racket, hitting a small yellow ball, and turning my head back and forth.

Although we've lived in New Jersey for four years now we have never become die hard Phillies fans nor I don't think we will ever be. I became a Red Sox fan the first time we explored New England back in 2001. I personally just like having a good time relaxing, sitting back, and watching a game. It was interesting to see and hear all the loud cheering and clapping. I especially loved listening to everyone singing "Take me out to the ball game". It was nice that everyone in our section was enjoying the game, and that no one intervened, or gave unpleasant looks when there was a small crowd wearing Mets attire.
This is the 10th year that Alexandra's middle school has been coming to play the national anthem for the Phillies. It is a privilege, and I am so glad she is a part of the Honors Band to be able to perform.
With three other children at home...this was our date with Alex. It was nice to have spent a little two on one with our middle daughter. I can tell she really enjoyed herself. Sometimes being the middle child is tough, but she is a trooper and doesn't mind what we do together as long as it's fun-and she had a blast! We are definitely doing this again, and bringing the whole family with us. Maybe we'll be on television next time!

P.S. The Phillies lost.
