One thing I love about Texas are the sunsets. We were driving on a highway and captured the sky. It looked as if it was on fire. Road trips are a highlight of our summer and I absolutely enjoy them.

A Texas Summer Part One.
Going a little backwards in October with snippets of an August summer in Texas. I can't believe it's over. It was a fast one filled with bittersweet moments. Visiting Texas without seeing my mom this summer was sad. I can't believe she's gone. I cried off and on along the way. Luckily we had Whataburger to cheer me up.

Chicago!
From now on going to Chicago is going to be our go to spot for vacation each year. Not only do we family that lives in heart of the city but we absolutely love it! The last time we were here was two years ago. We got see our favorite cousin Kenzie and see some of the touristy sites. It was dreamy and a miniature Manhattan. This time we got to do more than just sight see. We went to a broadway show and saw Beauty and the Beast. We went to the beach and this time saw the Bean without it being surrounded by a fence. We also went to the burbs of Chicago where we went to the temple. It was fun and lovely and honestly did not want to go back to Jersey! Oh how the energy here is so different from Manhattan. I would love to live here. It was such a fun trip and look forward to coming here more often!!

Texas Road Trip!
Two weeks ago we embarked on a road trip to Texas and let me tell ya, it was a long drive. We've done this drive before but for some reason Jon and I have grown somewhat weary in travel. Before, we used to drive straight through. Even with kids in tow we'd literally sleep in the car to save money so that we can arrive faster. Now we sleep in hotels which takes us longer to get there but the perks of a road trip are seeing what's in between New Jersey and Texas and I feel that we saw in between the seven states we drove through was interesting and important. Certain sights, hidden gems, random museums, but friends and family were the whole purpose of this trip and they were the most important. We'd definitely do this road trip again and I'm so glad we did it! As long as our bodies and minds are able to handle long drives we will continue to drive. Unless we go out of the country-now that's a different story!

Autumn In Woodstock, Vermont!
Everything in this town is so festive and there were so many porches decked out with gourds and pumpkins! It is so beautiful here and Jon even said he'd like to retire here. It is such an aesthetic place to escape to get away from the grind of Jersey. Who knows where we will end up once retirement hits! We are still young and will continue to road trip to Vermont every fall as long as our bodies allow the 5.5 hour drive! Now for some colorful photos!

For Miracles.
I know I'm continuing to go backwards here with my blogging, and I certainly hope y'all don't grow weary of my temple posts, but this one is super special because in all honesty, on our way home from Utah, we were not supposed to have driven down the road that led to the temple in Star Valley, Wyoming. Miracles happen, and were waiting for us, and I can't express how grateful I am when they happen!

FiiZ, Swig, & Sodalicious!
One of man mades greatest inventions are the specialty soda shops that we visited while we were in Utah. I've been a dr. pepper fan since I was a little kid, and will still drink it from time to time. I believe in moderation, and in my opinion see nothing wrong with having a soda every now and then.

The Faces Of Summer & A Road Trip Ahead.
Oh summer. You sure are passing us by pretty quickly, and it sure didn't help with the first two weeks of August being taken away from us because of moving into our new place. Still..we are savoring the last moments of summer until fall temperatures arrive, and looking forward to seeing mountains, eating at In-N-Out burger, and hopefully making it to a few new LDS temples along the way!
