February Snapshots In The City...

The month of February was no different than January. Warm temps. No major snowfall. Lots of rain. It has been pretty dreary with bits of sunshine but at least we live in a part of the world where we can just venture outside without having the need to get on a plane and travel somewhere exotic. We get everything in our backyard. New York city is a gem and I love it! Almost 16 years of living close to the best city in the world and it never gets old. Here I am walking right past the house where one of my favorite movies was filmed. Any guesses? Here's a reference, "snap out of it!" MOONSTRUCK! Love the location in Brooklyn.

And here are a few gems that we encountered this month....

Inspirational Thought- Looking Forward to Summers In Brooklyn!

Childhood is the world of miracle or of magic.
It is as if creation rose luminously out of the night,
all new and fresh and astonishing.
Childhood is over the moment
things are no longer astonishing.

Lexie Lately With Her Quilt From Project Repat!

It hasn't been cold enough to use a heavy blanket where we live, but this blanket that I ordered from Project Repat that was made for Lexie when she went back to college is good enough for her! Especially since it's been snowing a ton in Utah!! I was also so excited when I saw Lexie's photo used for their marketing ad. I have to say that they did a magnificent job in sewing all her memorabilia t-shirts together and it was a piece of pie to send them in. I have a ton of shirts I need to send to them for my youngest daughter who will be heading off to college this fall and it'll be interesting once again to see how her quilt turns out! Now for some photos of Lexie and her blanket. She is proud of it! Thanks to project repeat form making such a great quilt! I highly recommend them!

Valentine's Day 2023.

My husband told me the other day that some of his coworkers wives are really hating the Miley Cyrus's song "I can buy myself flowers." I can see why because of the independent words written in that song. Luckily I'm one of those cool wives who honestly doesn't give a crap about what I get. I'm in my 50's and to be honest I pretty much buy myself what I want without having the need to ask, but I do admit that it's a heck of a surprise when Jon gives me a card with such beautiful words written inside. And that's good enough for me! I don't flowers but I do love dates to the city and that's exactly what Jon is so good at. He loves taking me out to the city and this valentines day we kept it simple with capturing a photo of us to remember that so much love is just spending time together. Loving each other and paying attention to each other. It's always the simplest gifts of love that are the most precious and meaningful. Not the material things. Okay, if you count seeing a broadway show or going to a museum materialistic I don't think it is. It is entertaining and that is something I'll remember going to as opposed to any piece of jewelry. Whether you have a significant other or not I hope that everyone had a nice valentines day.

BTS At AMC Theatres!!

On the day of my mom's 79th birthday Chelsea and I got tickets to see BTS in concert....at AMC theaters! I mean c'mon, this is the closest I'm going to get to seeing the famous Korean boy band BTS in concert. Sitting in the middle row at the AMC theatre pretending that I'm actually experiencing the real thing! And it kind of felt like it was. Especially when we had a ton of rowdy, young teenage girls behind us but the coolest thing I loved the most were the two 60 plus year old women sitting right next to us. They were cheering and clapping and even singing their songs! It was hilarious and beautiful at the same time and my daughter chelsea who was sitting next to me was also going nuts but not as crazy as the rest of the audience! Overall, BTS is phenomenal and I absolutely love their music. I blame my girls for getting me into them. The 25 dollar tickets to watch their concert in theaters was worth it!! Here are a few scenes from the show. They're not the best but they are good enough for this blog!

& Juliet On Broadway!

So much to catch up on this month but I got to tell ya that this weather isn't very motivating for me to write. With these warm temps we've been having all month long I'd rather be outside. But on the first day of February Chelsea and I saw & Juliet on broadway and it was amazing! Truly on the top of my "most favorite broadway shows" list next to Phantom, Harry Potter, & Dear Evan Hansen. Such an energetic show and the fact that it is Valentines day in 13 days is the perfect month to watch it! I captured a few scenes toward the end of the show when it was ending and when it was okay to take pics! Sitting in the second row in the front did not disappoint!

A Beautiful Collaboration With Louis Vuitton & Yayoi Kusama!

New York city continues to surprise with so many adventures that include the best art installations and pop up shops. Noah was my adventure buddy on this day and last week we went to the Louis Vuitton pop up shop in the meat packing district and holy polka dots!! The only thing he was enamored by was the shiny silver balls. He's not a huge fan of polka dots and I wasn't a huge fan of the prices! LOL!

However, I do love this whimsical mural that was painted at the flagship Louis Vuitton store on 5th avenue as well as her exhibit at the NYBG back in 2021.  Kusama sure knows how to shout out bright pops of color. Totally suits her and oh how I loved the robotic display of her inside the window. Now that's window shopping! She looked so real! Such a fun collaboration and I'm not even into polka dots but it sure looks cute on a window display and inside a shop that's filled with a bunch of shiny silver balls!

Chelsea's 18th Birthday Photo Shoot In The Seaport District!

Photo shoot with my baby girl who turned 18 a couple of weeks ago turned out pretty great! I don't consider myself a professional photographer or an amateur photographer but oh how I love to capture important moments on film and this one was a milestone for my youngest daughter. All she wanted in part of the shoot was a black balloon! LOL!

She turned 18 a couple of weeks ago and it's moments like this in which I want to lock in my brain forever. Even though it was windy and a bit nippy, taking pictures in the Seaport District was so much fun! I am proud of this little photo shoot and I think some of her pictures came out great! So yeah- I'll consider myself a photographer! This sure does save me money on taking my own photos as opposed to hiring a photographer. It was a fun day with many bloopers, laughs, and remarks from my girl such as "mom, take the picture already, it's cold!" Ha ha! Good times!!

23 & 18!!!!

Two weeks ago my "twin" daughters celebrated their 23rd and 18th birthdays and even though they continue to celebrate them apart their sisterly bond is still strong! Happiest of birthdays to Lexie and Chelsea! Sure love y'all both so much!

Noah At The Plaza -A Christmas Tradition.

Although it's a new year and Christmas '22 is in the past I wanted to share another photo that's been traditional since Noah was a toddler. Taking pictures in front of the Plaza. It just goes to show how fast this kid is growing and yes... he is already pretty much my height. Sort of. By next hear he will definitely tower me. We didn't see Santa and although he still "believes" in him I honesty believe those days are over (insert sobbing tears.) Such a bittersweet moment but at least he still enjoys taking pictures in front of this gorgeous wreath and here we are looking our best and just taking in the moment. I was also able to capture a photo of him with Chelsea. You can view past photos here and here. And on my Instagram here and here and here! I know there are so many! It just blows my mind how fast he's growing!
