snow, mr. highland, & tgif.

Can you tell that we are excited that we finally got some snow around here. It may only be a few inches, but it's better than nothing.

It has been bitter cold so hopefully having some snow on the ground will make it less cold. January is almost over, and before we know it February, Valentine's day, and warmer weather will be here so I'm going to take this in as much as I can.

This month is going by way to quick. There were so many events that happened that made me happy such as Chelsea's baptism

I am also stocking this house up with lots of orange juice so that none of us get sick! Noah has been drinking it like water (that and a little bit of coke.) Shhh!

Sierra is like a revolving door right now going from one place to the next.

This weekend she'll be singing with the All South Jersey Choir, and last night she participated in the Mr. Highland contest, and was part of three acts.

For Mr. January she played the keyboard, she was the accompanist for Mr. May in which he sang this song so beautifully, she was also a backup dancer for Mr. August in which they all showed off their dance moves (check out my favorite part at 4:21), and was Mr. July's escort in which he did an amazing juggling act and doing Noah's favorite-backflips.

I obviously recorded more than I took photos because I was too enthralled with the show, and for those of you who need some pick up lines on how to win a girls heart this Valentines day watch this. Some of them are cute, corny, & funny!

You can also read about Sierra being an escort in previous Mr. Highland contests here and here

Oh...I also think this years Mr. Highland of 2013 (Mr. May) is very handsome not to mention super talented.

My in laws should be making their way back from Connecticut sometime tomorrow just in time to see Sierra perform this weekend. It has been so fun having them, and I know the kids enjoyed having fun with grandpa.

I think we need to invest in a fooseball table. They were all rolling rolls of duck tape on the table, and having a blast! Kids imaginations are very interesting!

Now that the night is almost over (no date night tonight) I'm going to say goodnight to the girls, and cuddle on the couch with Noah because he is a night owl like me, and his dad.

Hopefully we'll get more snow throughout the night so that we can wake up to go sledding!

crossing our fingers!

"I'm sexy & and I know it"

"Tonight I realized losing by one point is way worse than being blown away in the competition. But you know what else I learned? Sometimes life isn't always about winning, it's about having fun, letting loose, and being yourself."
~Jordan Jones (2nd place winner in Mr. Highland)
Here they are. These are the boys that represent their high school in which my daughter stood in as an escort for. These young men hold the keys to the future. Are we safe? Yeeaaah....as long as they don't wear those bootie shorts in public...I think it's safe to say that our future is in pretty good hands.

After all...this was all done for a good cause, and all in the name of fun.

The second annual Mr. Highland contest this year was a riot. By the theme of the contest, "I'm Sexy and I know it", I was a little nervous in the whole set up being somewhat a little risqué, but it really wasn't. It was a full house, and the response from the audience was well received.

Their opening number was this song, and I have to say... some of these boys have got some moves. They definitely showed off their legs, muscles, and yes...their bootie by shaking it. Hey...if you got it, flaunt it. (I wouldn't recommend that to any young women though.)

They all showed off their talents with singing, tap dancing, playing the saxophone, doing an impersonation of Cher,
an acting segment of the broadway show "Wicked", in which this contestant is singing "Popular" with one of the high school staff. (Love that show!)
this contestant is singing the song "A Whole New World" from Aladdin in which he is portraying both Jasmine and Aladdin. It was funny, but he did a good job.
While the judges were deliberating on the winner, Mr. Moustakas performed a musical number singing "Express Yourself". He did so well, and I was singing the song, and dancing from the seat of my chair in the audience. It brought back memories of when I was in high school. I can't believe that song is twenty years old!!
My favorite talent was when one of the contestants rode onto the stage on a unicycle, and then proceeded to juggle with three neon balls...in the dark.
Pretty impressive.
Now that's talent, and the gentleman with that talent was Jordan Jones who asked my daughter to be his escort in which they got second place. Had he received ONE more vote, he would have won the coveted crown of Mr. Highland.

Oh well...there is always next year.
It was a fun-filled evening which brought back memories for me of the songs in which most of these young men played, and sang. They are actually from my era, and sometimes I wish that songs from the 80's and 90's were still being played more in high school dances than the music they play today.

Although I wasn't feeling that well earlier in the day, I'm glad that my better half and I went to support this event. It is always a beautiful sight to see a friendly, wholesome couple portray a good example of modesty, happiness, maturity, and clean fun.

Congratulations on participating in this event...you are all winners!

Mr. Highland 2011

A couple of weeks ago Sierra was asked by Eddie Olmo II to escort him in the Mr. Highland 2011 competition. Last night was the night and I have to say...I was quite impressed with the turnout. All the 'calendar men' have been preparing for this night for about two weeks. It was an evening of laughter, roaring, and lots of oohs and ahs from the girls in the audience.
Mr. January
The first act was the boys introduction to the song, "It's Raining Men".

As you can see in the above photo all the boys have raincoats on. A couple of minutes into the song, they all proceeded to take off their raincoats. The attire underneath...a muscle shirt and swim shorts. Their dancing skills were...let's just say...inciting.
Each of the candidates had to perform a talent.  Eddie's talent was singing. They both sang this song by Bruno Mars. They sang like naturals and were very comfortable in doing so. I thought they made an "amazing" duo.
I had to put these two other candidates in this blog:

T.J.
T.J. dressed like Taylor Swift lip singing  the song, "Love Story". He was hilarious and sang the words verbatim. It was great!

Brandon
Brandon sang Seal's "Kissed by a Rose" and threw roses out into the audience. His performance was stage material. He was escorted by the lovely Ms. Sarah Poole. Here he is approaching her with a 'pick up line:
"It's taken me a lot of small steps to get here...will you take one giant leap with me?"

Unfortunately, Eddie didn't get the crown. I think they were all winners. All the performances were outstanding. I'm so glad Sierra participated in this event and that she accepted the invite from Eddie.

No, it wasn't  a date... it was all in good fun.
But still...don't they look "amazing" together?
