"I'm sexy & and I know it"

"Tonight I realized losing by one point is way worse than being blown away in the competition. But you know what else I learned? Sometimes life isn't always about winning, it's about having fun, letting loose, and being yourself."
~Jordan Jones (2nd place winner in Mr. Highland)
Here they are. These are the boys that represent their high school in which my daughter stood in as an escort for. These young men hold the keys to the future. Are we safe? Yeeaaah....as long as they don't wear those bootie shorts in public...I think it's safe to say that our future is in pretty good hands.

After all...this was all done for a good cause, and all in the name of fun.

The second annual Mr. Highland contest this year was a riot. By the theme of the contest, "I'm Sexy and I know it", I was a little nervous in the whole set up being somewhat a little risqué, but it really wasn't. It was a full house, and the response from the audience was well received.

Their opening number was this song, and I have to say... some of these boys have got some moves. They definitely showed off their legs, muscles, and yes...their bootie by shaking it. Hey...if you got it, flaunt it. (I wouldn't recommend that to any young women though.)

They all showed off their talents with singing, tap dancing, playing the saxophone, doing an impersonation of Cher,
an acting segment of the broadway show "Wicked", in which this contestant is singing "Popular" with one of the high school staff. (Love that show!)
this contestant is singing the song "A Whole New World" from Aladdin in which he is portraying both Jasmine and Aladdin. It was funny, but he did a good job.
While the judges were deliberating on the winner, Mr. Moustakas performed a musical number singing "Express Yourself". He did so well, and I was singing the song, and dancing from the seat of my chair in the audience. It brought back memories of when I was in high school. I can't believe that song is twenty years old!!
My favorite talent was when one of the contestants rode onto the stage on a unicycle, and then proceeded to juggle with three neon balls...in the dark.
Pretty impressive.
Now that's talent, and the gentleman with that talent was Jordan Jones who asked my daughter to be his escort in which they got second place. Had he received ONE more vote, he would have won the coveted crown of Mr. Highland.

Oh well...there is always next year.
It was a fun-filled evening which brought back memories for me of the songs in which most of these young men played, and sang. They are actually from my era, and sometimes I wish that songs from the 80's and 90's were still being played more in high school dances than the music they play today.

Although I wasn't feeling that well earlier in the day, I'm glad that my better half and I went to support this event. It is always a beautiful sight to see a friendly, wholesome couple portray a good example of modesty, happiness, maturity, and clean fun.

Congratulations on participating in this event...you are all winners!
