Blogger was having some serious issues for the past two days which has put me behind in my writing. Thank goodness for journals! I love to record something as soon as it transpires on my blog, but sometimes that's not always the case. Nothing too interesting happened the past two days anyway. Well, if you count wiping noses and an 18 months old butt constantly, picking up your six year old from the bus stop, eating at Don Pablos for lunch, helping your husband mow the lawn, having your kids rake and pick up the small piles of grass...then yeah, I guess those days were pretty productive and somewhat interesting.
Never a dull moment in the Jorgensen household...NEVER!!!
Of course strange and crazy things usually happen on Friday the 13th. One thing we did do that was crazy and spontaneous on Jon's day off is driving to New York City for a pre-birthday dinner for our oldest daughter. She turns 16 next week and we are starting a little bit early with her birthday week.
Crazy?
Not for us. Like I've said before, we are a spontaneous family and we like to have fun.
We waited for our middle daughter to get out of school and we left at about 3:00 p.m. We love New York and we don't mind the traffic. That's part of the deal you get when you drive into a city where there are at least nine million people residing. You get used to the traffic and eventually learn to drive in it. Sierra and I were hoping to catch the last showing of Mamma Mia at the Winter Garden theatre, but upon leaving a bit late the last show had already begun. That's what you get when you don't plan! That's okay...we can always catch it next time.
We did eat at one of Sierra's favorite spots in the middle village for dinner. Ever since we discovered this place five years ago we always have to stop in the city just to eat there. In New York, you almost never want to eat at the same place twice. There are just too many restaurants and types of food to choose from. We are spoiled with Charlys and just love Steve's Pizza. I especially love their french fries! Jon ate falafel over rice and I ordered a hamburger. I know, I know...plain, but so delicious.
The girls all enjoyed their pizza. They say it is the best pizza in the city. I'd have to agree. Lexie tasted some of Jon's falafel and wasn't too crazy about it. She said it tasted like smashed carrots and peas. "She loves to eat carrots and chick peas separate" she said. Not mixed into a dish! There are certain middle eastern foods she'll eat. Falafel is not one of them.
Noah had too much fun after eating. He just wanted to run around the plaza and play with the lights on the ground. He knew that it was time to go and that he was going to be cooped up in his car seat for an hour and a half. He took advantage of the situation and ran his little heart out, and wore himself out!
It was an evening well spent in New York City on
Friday the 13th.
