Celebrating The 4th Of July In Our Nation's Capitol.

When it comes to the fourth of July we don't have any major traditions, and our plans are pretty spontaneous. We are not big planners so when that day comes we will wake up and decide what we want to do and where we should go to watch the fireworks. Our 4th of July's have been pretty much doing our own thing and we always make the best of celebrating our country as a family. And no matter how hard our country has it right now we celebrate it with a smile, and go on with life always hoping for the best!

There was even one day while living in Utah when we woke up, and said to Jon, "let's go to Vegas to visit my cousin." And so we did! Luckily they were home when we called to let them know we were on our way (it's a five-hour drive), and they welcomed us with a huge smile and showed us a good time on the 4th in their city. Living out west near family was easy to spend time with loved ones because we were so close. Here in the east coast we pretty much do things spur of the moment and at our own leisure.
This year we decided to watch the fireworks again in Washington D.C. The last time we saw them here was four years ago! Since the fourth fell on a weekday this year it was a quick trip and only spent the day here because Jon had to work the next day. Next year he is definitely taking a week off work because we've already decided to go to Boston to watch the fireworks. Apparently, they have a whole lot of festivities going on, and we are going to take advantage and spend more time in New England next July!
Overall we had an amazing time in D.C. and didn't get rained on. The kids had a grand time, and it's so fun to be patriotic wearing red, white and blue. We truly live in a great country where we sometimes take for granted. So proud to be an American!
We were also lucky to see the fireworks in D.C. and they were a huge success this year. Hope everyone had a happy independence day this year!
