Blackout In New York City!

We had just finished eating a late lunch when all of a sudden we noticed the power went out. Street lights stopped working, people began to sit outside the stoops of their building, restaurants began closing down, and because the NYPD was nowhere to be found noticed civilians directing traffic. It was quite an interesting evening for Lexie and I as we meandered throughout the streets of New York without a care in the world experiencing one of the most exciting times of being in the city because..........BLACKOUT!

Although I posted a few updates on my Instagram wanted to document it because this truly was a new york moment for us, and the fact that the blackout happened on the same weekend it did as they had back in 1977 was definitley a night to remember.
Lucky for us we had already seen a matinee of Burn This as well as having a late, lunch at Jacob's Pickles. Lexie had never been and so she wanted to see what the hype was all about, and she approved!
On our way back we wandered around our favorite neighborhood in the upper west side and were desperately wanting some banana pudding, but because of the power outage were not taking any customers. Luckily the manager was let us in when I told him that all we wanted was banana pudding. He obliged when I told him I had had exact change. I pretty much always have loose bills and a ton of change in my wallet you know, just in case!
Anyway, we got our banana pudding and began our hike to times square where half of it was lit. It was crazy, and I captured a couple of shots, and if you saw my IG story you would have seen how dark it was, without the gigantic screens being lit! There were some lights lit, but not a lot.
It was getting late, and didn't want to miss our train when all of a sudden the lights at Penn Station went out! Lexie and I were like, "noooooooooo!!!" Since the trains were frozen, and not running anytime soon we decided to linger around and make the best of the night and continued to walk blocks listening to people singing, and playing. Some were hustling and bustling to their destinations. It looked like the apocalypse but in a fun way. It was all fun, and dandy until my feet began to hurt. seriously think we walked 15,000 steps that day. We decided to take a bus back to Jersey city where Jon picked us up and made it home safe close to one o'clock in the morning.
Out of all the days we come to the city via train new york has a blackout. This was definitely a new york moment for me, and one for the books for sure!
