The Holiday Train Show At The New York Botanical Garden!

The NYBG is a beautiful place to go, but often neglect going as much as I'd like particularly in the spring when the flowers are in bloom, and everything is green! I tend to go when there is a major exhibit going on featuring famous artists such as Chihuly, or in this case the Holiday train show

This was our first time going to the holiday train show. Ever since they announced the train show featuring a miniature New York city we had to go. When I showed Noah the pics they had on their website, he thought it was so cool, and definitely wanted to see it. After all...he loves trains, and the city!
Winter break was over, and school resumed that same day, and once again Noah played hooky just so he can spend more time with Lexie. Chelsea decided not to miss school (good girl) so it was just us three, again. It was also Lexie's last day to spend with us before flying out the next day to return to school. Weather wasn't too cold, and we all had a nice time walking along the gardens upon entering in, and even took a few photos in front of these beautifully decorated trees.
There may not have been green trees, or flowers because of winter, but we enjoyed the train show so much, and was extremely impressed with how they set up the locomotives with miniature buildings surrounding them. It was like stepping out of a train from Grand central, and walking into a mini New York city.
Apparently the artists made these iconic models with bark, wood, acorns, and leaves, and other natural materials. I captured a few photos of some of my favorite places to go in the city, and was amazed at how intricate it must have been to work on.

And now for some of my favorite iconic buildings! The Washington Arch.
 Grant's Tomb
 Guggenheim museum!
  St. Patricks Cathedral
 Belvedere Castle!
Noah & Chelsea's dream home...brownstones in the upper west side.
 Wonder wheel at Coney Island.
 The Cyclone at Coney Island!
 Rockefeller Center.
 Freedom Tower.
The MET!

 The Brooklyn Bridge.
The George Washington Bridge.
They even made a railroad sign and crossing out of natural materials. So cool! you can catch a 14 second video of the train passing by here.
And finally the conservatory at the NYBG where these wonderful sculptures were displayed!

Ah man! That was a lot of pictures and links! Hope you hung around long enough to see and read! The train show is on until January 21, and if you are in the area I suggest checking it out! Lines are short, and you won't be disappointed!
