Noah-isms // Pandemic Fall Edition.

At 12 years old Noah's vocabulary has become way too extensive for me which means I don't feel the need to continue to document it. He''s pretty much speaking like a tiny adult and still says things that are "off the wall" (I blame that on watching too many you tubers who play video games.) Not that Noah plays a lot but he does have a Roblox account and being the cool mom that I am do allow him a good enough time to be on it. (Try 1-3 hours) but at least he doesn't talk back or throw a tantrum when I tell him it's time to wrap it up. He's a good kid and I honestly couldn't ask for a more respected, kind, and funny little boy. Well, he'll always be little in my eyes but he's growing up to be the quite young man and so far the age of 12 has been treating him well! Good thing he's only a tween for a year! Let's just hope that the teens won't change him too much! Here are a few Noah-isms that I have remembered him saying as of late....

Noah-isms - The Pandemic Edition.

It's been over a year since I've written any thing about Noah and his musings and I have missed that! Heck I miss a lot of things about this little blog. Not many people read blogs anymore but boy do I miss the good ol days when I blogged about anything and everything. The life of motherhood and parenting and all things kids. Now that they are all grown up and pretty much on their own (at least two of them) I don't have too much to write about on parenting. I feel like "a know it all" on mothering and parenting but I know I still have a lot to learn on raising my only boy who's 11.5 years young. So I guess maybe I will still write about the two kids I have left at home. Life is about adventures and living in the moment and learning about life's lessons. This past year was a rough fun one. My kids learned to speak up. Grow up. Get outside and I mean really dig deep into culture so much that Noah was asking all kinds of off the wall questions. He said words that his sisters never said at 10-11 years of age. Penis, sex, are among the words he would say. And in good context. He's growing up and wanted to know how he ended up on earth. How he was made basically. He learned all about maturation class this year so I am happy to know that my son knows all about the birds and the bees. What to do and how not to do it. Especially at a young age! He's so mature it scares me but at the same time I'm chill for the known fact that he knows what certain things mean when it comes down to the nitty gritty. He asks us questions and we answer them in the best way we know how. I'm Latina  so I don't sugarcoat my words. Christian or not it's important to teach our kids things that may considered a sin. The things he has said is proof that he is definitley not sheltered, but cultured. It's been interesting to watch grow up. To hear him respond to his teachers on his own without asking me, "what do I tell her?" He will do really well in middle school if he keeps this up. 

I only have about five Noah-isms to write so here they are...

Noah-isms.

It's been a while since I've written any Noah-isms, and I'm trying to remember some of the funny things Noah has said lately, or in the past few months. He's so bold, and outspoken to the point where I need to tell him to not be so open-minded. I love that he has a "voice" and that he's not afraid to speak, but remind him that while we can be bold in how we say things, that there should always be kindness in our words as well. Oh, and tact! Which so many of us lack these days!

Noah-isms In July.

It's hard to believe that in less than four months our little guy will be nine. There are days when he acts his age, and days where we're like, "what did he just say?" Our conversations with Noah are becoming more adult-like, and he truly is becoming an old soul. I blame it on having three older sisters and the fact that even though they spoil him with hugs and kisses they talk to him as if he's 12 and not eight. I am amazed at how he words things, and talks about life, and how he's not afraid to share his thoughts, and feelings with us.

Noah-isms//Spring Edition.

To start off this lovely edition of Noah's "Noah-isms" I have to share with you that Noah's favorite saying lately has been "what the what!" At first I thought he was going to say the "f" word, and the only reason I say that is because kids his age are saying that, but luckily he didn't, and he hasn't, and even though he's heard it he knows it's a dirty word, and vows he'll never say it, but then again he's eight, and innocent which makes me want to keep him at that age forever, but then again he has to grow up, be challenged, and tested, and learn in order for him to grow up to be charming, strong, and valiant! 

Noah-isms & The Things I Look Forward To When It Comes To His Words.

Some of Noah's sayings lately have been pretty funny, and "adult" like lately especially since he turned eight, and Lexie turned 18. Whenever he says something funny I try to laugh, and remember what he said so I can tell the girls, and Jon when they come home. Luckily I have my phone at times to jot down what he says so I won't forget. Eventually there will come a time when his Noahisms will become obsolete online, and as he gets older his words will become vast, extensive, and hopefully mature, but fun! But for now I will continue to take in his words as they come in hopes that I can remember as I get older!

Noah-isms - The Emotional Edition.

I don't know how much longer I can keep up with this little guy when it comes to his words, but man, oh man I can never get enough of him. I laugh, cry, and sometimes will raise my mom voice when he will do something naughty which is very rare, and I'm not lying. This kid is as good as he gets, but he has his days of grumpiness, and it's beginning to show. He definitely is growing up, and that's okay. I get it. In four years he'll be a tween! 

Noah-isms In The Summer.

One thing I'll never regret is having Noah as my last kid. Having three older sisters has definitely given him a soft side, and a huge heart! He is as sweet, and feminine as they come. His favorite words lately has been "beautiful" and "love." He has been describing everything as beautiful. Such as these flowers in the background, and the tree that was planted at his school recently. He called it, "a beautiful garden tree." He says all his sisters are beautiful, and that I'm beautiful too! What a sweet boy he is! 

Noah-isms in June.

Noah has been on a kick lately with singing "love" song's from diffente genres. Recently he has become obsessed with 80's music, and I blame that on me! He compiled his own combination of love songs the other day with these three songs. Just try to picture him singing them in your head! "Take the L out of lover, and it's over (by The Motels), "don't you want me baby, don't you want me oh, oh, oh"(by Human League) and he added a current song of today too, "if you love me let me go!" Next time I'll try to get a recording so y'all can watch him. It was cute and hilarious! 

Noah-isms.

(Sighing) Why does my little boy have to grow up so fast! As much as I try to keep up, and remember the things he says that make us laugh I can't help but to just lock those moments in my brain rather than kill my brain to remember them so I can write them down! He continues to make me laugh, and smile, and sometimes even cry good tears because he's about the sweetest  boy I've ever met! I'm so crazy about him, and I'm hanging on to every moment we spend alone together. Winter almost had me with the crazy weather we were having, but once spring creeped in with those tulips, and blossoms, and with Noah in my life reminded me that seasons change, and dreary weather doesn't last forever. 

Love spring, and Noah's musings have been nothing but amusing! I racked my brain as to remember some of the silly things he said so here they are:

While running errands on an empty stomach, and because Princeton has fabulous restaurants wanted to grab a bite to eat, and noah says to me, "mom, you should have eaten something at home." He totally mocked what I tell him when he wants to go get something to eat! 

Noah-isms.

We've been singing Hamilton all year long, and the other day when I started singing, "My Shot" Noah says, "oh my gosh! I'm so done with that song!"

Noah-isms: Christmas Edition.

Life has been way too busy this holiday season to jot down every single quirky thing Noah says, but i somehow always manage to remember the funniest, and sweetest things that he utters. I love it when he comes home from school, and gives me his daily recap. He always has something interesting to say, and sometimes they are things I don't want to hear such as his friends at school talking about girls, and how some girls want to kiss him.

Noah-isms: Fall Edition.

I continue to marvel at the thought that this kid will be seven next week! He truly is showing his age by his personality, and the way he is speaking. Not only is he speaking clearly in full sentences, but the things he says are far too funny, and sometimes not too funny. He's a boy with a lot of questions who wants thorough answers.

Noah-isms.

Two words for this kid, "Stop Growing!" 

No seriously. 

As much as i love his independence, and getting older looking more, and more like he's 12 I can't help, but to want to slow time down because the next thing you know he'll be towering over me. I love his catch phrases, and all the silly things he says and here are a few that Lexie, and I have remembered him saying. 

Noah checked out a book the other day on sharks, and as he was reading it asked that since we go fishing, if "we can go sharking."

I have to say that Noah is the most affectionate boy! I'm not sure if I should be worried because, you know...girls, but then again he is half-mexican so my affectionate attributes will rub off on him. He's been expressing a lot of love lately by giving hugs, and giving a peck on my hand, and whenever I say "i love you more" to him, he'll say, "I love you better."

After watching spider-man for the fiftieth time Noah will grab the strings from the blinds in our living room, and say, "look Lexie, I'm swinging on my webs." 

Jon is so talented that not only can he do the mechanical labor on our own car, but he can cut his own hair too (what's left of it!) So Noah decided to sit in and watch him trim it. In the middle of trimming it he said, "daddy, your taking off the brown, and putting on the grey."

For those of you who have seen the movie The Age of Adeline there is a part in the movie (and I hope I don't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it) where her dog dies. Noah said, "she could always get some feathers, and put another dog together since they are full of fir." 

The other day Noah asked me a random question. He asked if he was ever covered in blood. I told him no. He then said, "yes i have." I said to him, "really, when? He said, "when I was born." Apparently he was looking through his scrapbook with his sisters, and saw a picture of him when he first came out of my belly...literally (i had a c-section with him). 

There's more where all that came from, but I'm not going to wrack my brain to remember the funniest thing he said just last night! Why can't I remember!! Oh well, it'll come.

Noah-isms // Summer Edition.

Not sure how much longer I'm going to keep up jotting down Noah's musings, but luckily I have his sisters to fill me in on what he says when I'm not around. 

Noah's favorite saying so far has been "just kidding." 

Mommy, I need to go potty. Just kidding!" 

After eating a full course meal..."Mommy, I'm still hungry. Just kidding!"

"Chelsea's ugly. Just kidding!" 

So Noah has invented a "poop" song, and while he's in the bathroom he'll sing it. Like all the time! He's sung it so much that I started to sing it, and when he heard me singing it in the bathroom (so not classy I know) He says through the door, "Mom, stop being like me!"

As I was walking Noah to the bus stop on his last day of school we saw one of our neighbors whom we rarely see because of their age. Noah saw "Mr. Smith" and as we passed him coming out of the house he says to me, "mom, that man is almost old. He's old like my piano teacher...they're almost old, and are going to die!" My response, "No papa they're not going to die, and yes they are old, but they're not dying anytime soon!" I sure hope not! 

At our yearly church bbq in which we just had Noah out of the blue said, "jade smells." Jade is a friend of Lexie's, and when Jade overheard what he said, he immediately went up to her, gave her a hug, and kissed her on the cheek...on his own. He also said, "just kidding!"

Every time we see a bunny, especially when we see one close up he'll say, "look mom a bunny, and he looks like a small deer." 

On his last day of school, and with a heavy heart Noah says, "I'm going to miss my friends." Me: "You"ll make new friends." Noah: "How? Are we still in Jersey?" I said, "yes, so that'll be easier to make new ones." He said, "okay." Resilient kids are a blessing! 

So we had a little bit of help from our church congregation in our new area, and while Lexie, and this other boy were moving stuff into our new place Noah asked Lexie, "are you going to marry that guy?" Lexie was like, "noooooo!" 

It's very rare that we nap on Sunday but because we moved the day before were super exhausted. Everyone took a nap except Noah, and when I awoke I asked him why he didn't take one. He said, "napping is for nighttime mommy, not daytime." His days of napping are pretty much over. Sigh....

While on a drive on a gorgeous sunny day, "why does the sun keep following us? The moon follows us at nighttime too." 

This boy continues to liven up our days, and we are so glad he's part of our family. 

He definitely completes it! 

OH...and watermelon is his fave!! He always has to have all summer long!

Noah-isms.

This kid of mine is everything i dreamed a little boy to be, but sometimes it's over the top! He continues to teach me how to be positive, and helps me sees the ways of the world through his eyes, and let me tell you something...his view on life, and how he sees it is pretty amazing. I love that he's a dreamer, is very observant which helps me to improve on my "bite my tongue" skills, and a little gentleman. And since it's the middle of May, and the weekend i wanted to share with you some of the things that pretty much expresses his personality, and how he's becoming.   

And I'm loving it! 

Spider man is his all time favorite super hero, and has been watching that movie every chance he gets. He asked if he ever got bit by a spider if he would become like the guy in spiderman, and swing from building to building and have webs shooting out of his wrists. I said," no papa you won't, because it's just a movie, and spiderman isn't real." He said, "Not real! Then i guess I won't be able to save anyone who is in trouble" (insert frown face here.)

"Mom, you're going to be old in like 10 years because your hair is starting to turn grey."

When I was teaching him to remember his birthdate I asked him, "what year were you born?"  He said, "Heaven." 

Noah told me how much boys like talking to Chelsea in the bus room, and I told him that's fine as long as they're treating her right, and not her boyfriend, and he says, "Chelsea's boyfriends are her emoji pillows because she sleeps with them a lot! "

"I'm so hungry mom that the animal in my stomach is giving me a heart attack!"

Wile watching Jurassic World recently there's a scene at the end where the main characters are about to kiss, and Noah say, "just ask her out on a date, geez!"

While running errands I stopped by the bank, and told him I was going to deposit some money, and he said, "so you're going to buy some more money?" That lesson right there is a reminder to me that I need to teach him about what depositing money is!

While talking about our names, and where we got them from he asked, "did abuela name you Rose because you like flowers? LOL! I said to him, "sure Noah because flowers are pretty." and he said, "so are you mommy."

All these musings prove all to well that he's growing up, and the more he is out in the world, the more he is catching on! There is so much there that teaches him right and wrong, and luckily he focuses more on telling me about the good things in life than any negativity he may see...especially when it comes to media. He hears things, and is very observant. Such a smart kid he is, and I'm so proud of all that he's learning and becoming.

Noah-isms in the Spring.

I love, love watching my little boy grow up, and speaking to me as if he's an adult, and listening in on the funniest, and sweetest, sometimes weird conversations he has with his sisters. It's amazing to watch him live life without a care in the world. Something I wish I could go back to, and do, and no matter what negative or dark thing he might see, and hear...he's always smiling. Skipping, singing and humming under his breath like there's no one watching, and those are some of things I love to see, and hear him do. It tells me that he is one happy kid built with so much confidence, a little too much I might add, and that he is ready to take charge of what the world brings. 

Here are a few sweet, funny, quirky things he has said or done as of late....

Noah-isms.

While shopping at Target Noah kept bugging me that he wanted me to buy him something. Here is our little conversation as we were "shopping" around.

Me: "what would like me to buy for you papa?"
Noah: "it starts with a t."
(I played the guessing game for awhile.)
Me: "tennis racket, thomas the train, train track, tambourine??"
Noah: "nooooooooooo, I want a transformer robot."
Me: But you already have a transformer robot."
Noah: "But I want Optimus Prime."
Me: You already have three optimus primes Noah."
Noah: "Well, I want four then."

After wearing the same vans for about a year, it was seriously time to order Noah new shoes. I found some online, and when they arrived we were taking them out of the box, and as he was putting one shoe on realized there was paper inside. While taking the paper out of his shoes he said, "mom, why do people put trash inside new shoes?" 

So this is a sign from Noah which tells me that I probably need to tighten my abs just a bit more...

I was reading him a story, and cuddling with him when all of a sudden he felt that I was "soft." He patted my belly, and started singing, "mommy's got a wiggly belly, a wiggly belly."  Yeah...my esteem went down a few notches. So looking forward to warmer temps so that we can go walking again!

Noah was helping me scrapbook the other day, and I was putting a few certificates, cards, and photos in their scrapbooks had an interesting question about babies, and how they came out of our bodies. Here's our  short "adult" convo...

Noah: "mommy, was I in your belly with all my sisters?"
Me: No, y'all were born at different times.
Noah: "how are babies born, and did I come out of your belly?
Me: "yes."
Noah: "did it hurt?"
Me: " no, because they had to give me some medicine so I wouldn't feel the pain when they cut me to get you out."
Noah: "They cut youuuuuuuuuu?? Did I get cut too?"
Me: "Yes ,they cut me. Your feet were at the bottom so they had to cut my belly to get you out. But you didn't get cut. You were covered in a little bit of blood though."
Noah: "blood???"
Me: "but they cleaned you up, and afterwards handed you to me, and you were so clean, and cute."
Noah: "Cleeeeaaaaan, and yeah...I am cute."

Love this kid of mine!!

Noah-isms.

// The time for this kid is just flying by and I'm in denial because before we know it he'll be turning lucky seven! Wait...he just turned six three months ago! Why am I even thinking that? It's hard not to when they speak in clearer sentences, and count over 100, and basically act like a tiny adult! I love how he keeps me entertained, and laughing every day. He's just like his dad. They both make me laugh, and that's a wonderful trait to have! I love my boy, and with a new month beginning am going to make his young years worth living for! //

Here are a few of the funniest, and just "off the wall" things he's said lately that I've remembered to remember!  

Mommy, my body is saying, "I want to play on the computer."

While gathering to say family prayer one night we were waiting for Noah to come into the room. I called out to him, and said, "Noah, are you asleep?" There's a long pause, and then he says "yes." I said, "get in here so we can have prayer please!" And then he walked into the room.

We were holding hands inside the house walking from my bedroom to his room, and he says, "you don't have to hold my hand, we're not crossing the street we're inside the house."

As I was putting out the valentines day decorations he asks, "mom, is it love day? Is today hearts day?" He's catching on the concept of Valentines day that's for sure! 

So Noah got a lot of jigsaw puzzles for Christmas last year, and when we opened one up he saw the box, and said, "This puzzle cost 100 dollars!!?!!" I said, "no papa, it has 100 pieces." LOL! 

So I lost my temper the other day with Noah because of the bickering he still does with his sister, and although he's not the instigator I yelled out loud, and said, "please, enough! Stop it, both of you, now!" He then said, "mom! you scared the crap of me!" 

To his sister Chelsea, "Chelsea, I don't want to be a mean guy anymore to you, I want to be a nice guy. I want to be a better brother...okay?"

While cleaning up, and tidying up the house for me he'll be uttering the letters,  "N-O-A-H. N-O-A-H. N-O-A-H is my name. N-O-A-H that's my name!" 

"Mommy guess what?" Me: "What?" "I have five superheroes." Me: "yeah, who are they?" I'm expecting him to say batman, spiderman, green lantern, captain avenger, or iron man. He says, "they are you, daddy, Lexie, Sierra, and Chelsea." My heart melted. 

// You seriously have to be around him to hear these musings of his in person. He's so cute, and I honestly can't get enough of him. Time with him is never wasted. Staying home with him until he's off to school is the best part of my morning. I love that he's growing up. I love his curious mind that allows him to ask questions, and progresses him to learn all about life! //

Noah-isms.

// I can't believe we are already at the end of December! Didn't Noah just turn six last month?? My has time flown! Anyway I've been neglecting to share a few of what Noah has been saying as of late, of course I remember the funny sayings, but then all of a sudden for the past couple of weeks he has been saying some of the funniest things! //

The day after Noah's birthday he asked, "Mommy, am i still six?"

When Jon came home from work Noah ran up to him, and asked, "daddy, am i still six?"

We caught the end of this movie the other night and as we sat down to watch the last ten minutes of it there was a part where both the father and son were crying. As the tears were flowing down their face mixed with sweat because they were running for their life in a very humid country Noah said, "they're melting." I had to explain afterwards that they were actually tears, and because they were sweating it looked like they were melting. 

Every time I buy Noah gummy bears he always tells me to sit still, close my mouth, and say, "I am a gummy bear." I try to say it like a ventroloquist but to no avail. I move my mouth, and Noah then says, "gummy bears have their mouths closed, and are like statues. They don't talk...you eat them." 

While eating at a restaurant Noah needed to go to the bathroom. Lexie ended up taking him, and when she came back she said that Noah gave too much information while going potty.  Apparently he said, "man, that was a big one!" 

Every time Noah sees a picture with snow in it he says, "christmas."

On our way to church last Sunday we noticed some friends who were right behind us. I mentioned to the kids that it was the Jensens, and Noah says, "why are they following us? Is it because I'm cute?" I know...funny kid. 

I think Noah is growing tired from asking me to make cereal for him, and of course I don't. I told him I didn't mind, and that's what I'm supposed to do since he's still little. I then had a bittersweet moment because he's growing up way too quick. I could't help but to blurt out Please don't grow anymore Noah, please! Stay little! His response, "I have to grow mom. I have to grow taller so I can reach the cereal." 

Because I don't want to have to turn on our heat with the 60 degree weather we've been having it has been more colder inside our house than it is outside, and when I told Noah how colder it is inside our house than it is outside he said, "I know. It's because there's holes in this house! 

One morning Noah woke up freezing, and scared. He came into our room and I asked him why he was scared. He said its because there's no parents sleeping in his room.

// Love this kid of ours! With the years flying by so quickly watching Noah growing up has been bittersweet to the core, and although there are times where I do mind his independency I'm beginning to appreciate it. I can't help it. He's my only boy, and possibly my last child so I'm trying to hang on to those sweet, tender six year old mama moments as long as I can!
