The PopCorn Zoo - Summer 2021.

Memories of taking Noah to the popcorn zoo when he was a toddler came flooding back when we took Trent last year. The drive through the country, the smell of green forest, the popcorn we'd purchase to feed the animals, the moment we walked in to see the ginormous tortoises, and having Chelsea be a big sister to a sweet little boy -again. It truly was a moment to remember from long ago and to build sweet memories with my dear friends son Trent. Oh boy did he have a blast!! And like Noah, loved every moment of walking through the zoo studying and exploring every species that was there. Asking questions about their lifespan and if they really like eating popcorn. He's such a sweet boy and hope we can take him again this year. What a beautiful memory and moment in a short afternoon to treasure. For it's time like these where children are so innocent, and to see the world through their eyes is a reminder to me that life, no matter how hard and dark the days can get - is absolutely beautiful.

popcorn park zoo (noah version)

Spring break for Alex & Chelsea ended on Wednesday, and so far this week spending it with Sierra, and Noah has been fun.

Sierra has been taking advantage of her free time away from school, and while she is still trying to decide which college to attend to (she's narrowed it down to two) we told her to go, have fun, and spend some time with her friends.

While she was out Jon and I ventured out & took Noah to the Popcorn park zoo. This day was all about him.
The first time we came was two years ago when Noah was about one. I recommend this park for kids 12 and under. I mean if your a teenager that doesn't mind the country, and small spaces by all means go, but i think little kids may enjoy it more. Just don't wear sandals, or flip flops because you'll get sand all over. There is no concrete at this zoo, and luckily Noah was smart enough to wear his boots.

It's not like the Philadelphia zoo, or any other huge zoo we are familiar with. This zoo is special because the animals that house it are rescued by the Association Humane society. We are allowed to feed them popcorn, and peanuts.
The weather has still been a bit chilly here. Chilly enough to wear a light jacket. Some of the sites were closed due to renovations, and there were some animals that were a bit sluggish. We saw a beautiful mountain lion that could barely walk. Not sure if he had arthritis, but my heart didn't have the courage to photograph, vine, or record him.

I did however vine Noah having the most amazing time feeding the deer here, trying to touch the feathers of a peacock here, when he was feeding popcorn to the canadian geese here, and his favorite...looking at the tigers, and bears...

Oh my!
Being that he is three years old his animation, and personality towards animals or anything of nature is still the same when he was one years old. He loves being outdoors, and loves all the animals!

Walking with the chickens...
The coolest thing about this zoo is that it's in the middle of the country. The hour drive back home was nice, and that always gives Jon and I a chance to talk about 'life', and our future with our family.

I had so much fun today with Noah that I began kissing him all over. I know I've said this before, but he is just growing up too darn quick! Can time please slow down? Please!!!
Having Jon off all week made this chilly, spring break really nice. Even though we spent our spring break days in Philly, and closer to home it has been fun. Now to prepare for general conference, and then back to reality next Monday!
Happy weekend all!

Popcorn Park Zoo

Who knew that in the middle of the country in New Jersey surrounded by lakes and forests there would be a small, small zoo where all the animals housed there are rescued by the Association Humane Society. They even house dogs and other animals that you can adopt.

There is, and we went.

For those of you who like long drives towards the country, and are on a tight budget...this is the place to go. There aren't too many animals, but just enough to make the five bucks (children 2-12 are four bucks) worth going. This is also a zoo where you are allowed to feed the animals. You can buy peanuts or (air-popped) popcorn. We bought popcorn and the girls had fun feeding them.

Particularly these sweet birds...
We saw the whole zoo in two hours. It was a nice day without any humidity and there were no crowds. The girls fed the shetland ponies, emus, goats, and deer.
There were even certain animals that were begging for popcorn. You can tell that all of these animals are used to being fed by those who come, because they will immediately come towards the fence and make you know that they are hungry.
Chelsea and Noah had fun watching the bears. They were cute little bears too. Too bad we can't pet them.
I had to get this picture of Noah's favorite animal..."Buster" the monkey.
There were peacocks meandering throughout the entire zoo. Their feathers are so vibrant in color.

As we were leaving the zoo I saw these turtles come together, and they were all feasting on what looked like a huge salad. It was so nice to see all of them eating together as a family.
This was another perfect day with everything being under 25 bucks. Not bad for a family outing, and only an hour away from home. It's not the Philadelphia or Bronx zoo, but just to know that these animals were brought here to be saved...makes any dollar amount worth spending.
