There is, and we went.
For those of you who like long drives towards the country, and are on a tight budget...this is the place to go. There aren't too many animals, but just enough to make the five bucks (children 2-12 are four bucks) worth going. This is also a zoo where you are allowed to feed the animals. You can buy peanuts or (air-popped) popcorn. We bought popcorn and the girls had fun feeding them.
Particularly these sweet birds...
We saw the whole zoo in two hours. It was a nice day without any humidity and there were no crowds. The girls fed the shetland ponies, emus, goats, and deer.
There were even certain animals that were begging for popcorn. You can tell that all of these animals are used to being fed by those who come, because they will immediately come towards the fence and make you know that they are hungry.
Chelsea and Noah had fun watching the bears. They were cute little bears too. Too bad we can't pet them.
I had to get this picture of Noah's favorite animal..."Buster" the monkey.
There were peacocks meandering throughout the entire zoo. Their feathers are so vibrant in color.
As we were leaving the zoo I saw these turtles come together, and they were all feasting on what looked like a huge salad. It was so nice to see all of them eating together as a family.
This was another perfect day with everything being under 25 bucks. Not bad for a family outing, and only an hour away from home. It's not the Philadelphia or Bronx zoo, but just to know that these animals were brought here to be saved...makes any dollar amount worth spending.
