Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument On Memorial Day.

Fro the longest time Riverside Park has become one of favorite parks. The kids have scooted their scooters here and we've been to the 91st street garden a million times. We've passed by this monument a gazillion times but one thing we've never really done on Memorial Day or any other day is stop and pay tribute to the fallen and read about the soldiers and sailors monument. It truly is a historical site and because we've been to General Grant's tomb and the fact that it has been closed off since the pandemic decided to walk around the S&S monument and remember. I captured a few photos of Noah while Chelsea was finishing off homework. In spite of a long, rainy weekend Memorial Day turned out to be pretty sunny and cheerful I am so thankful for all who have served and continue to sacrifice their life for our country. Thank you! Our prayers are with you and your families. Happy Memorial Day!

A Thank You Letter To My Friends & Family.

Having gall bladder surgery was something I was not expecting to have this month. Or ever. Having throwing up for four days straight and not able to keep anything in and waking up to major pain on my right side one morning was something that concerned me and luckily my husband took work off for three days to make sure it wasn't anything serious. Well, I guess having my gall bladder lit up with stones was pretty serious for me and although it took the doctors a day and a half to make sure everything else in my body was working properly went ahead and scheduled the surgery for later on that night. Like 11:30 at night! I was not afraid but curious. Wondering how this was going to turn out in the end. I've never had surgery except to have c-section babies and that is it. I have always been a healthy woman but I guess when you're nearing 50 (I turn 50 this September) your body will have begin to have age relating issues. And this one really snuck up on me! Luckily I had no other serious health issues. They ruled out stomach ulcers, and I did have a belly hernia which was fixed during surgery. Don't ask me what that was because I don't even remember the doctor's answer when I asked him.

Noah-isms - The Pandemic Edition.

It's been over a year since I've written any thing about Noah and his musings and I have missed that! Heck I miss a lot of things about this little blog. Not many people read blogs anymore but boy do I miss the good ol days when I blogged about anything and everything. The life of motherhood and parenting and all things kids. Now that they are all grown up and pretty much on their own (at least two of them) I don't have too much to write about on parenting. I feel like "a know it all" on mothering and parenting but I know I still have a lot to learn on raising my only boy who's 11.5 years young. So I guess maybe I will still write about the two kids I have left at home. Life is about adventures and living in the moment and learning about life's lessons. This past year was a rough fun one. My kids learned to speak up. Grow up. Get outside and I mean really dig deep into culture so much that Noah was asking all kinds of off the wall questions. He said words that his sisters never said at 10-11 years of age. Penis, sex, are among the words he would say. And in good context. He's growing up and wanted to know how he ended up on earth. How he was made basically. He learned all about maturation class this year so I am happy to know that my son knows all about the birds and the bees. What to do and how not to do it. Especially at a young age! He's so mature it scares me but at the same time I'm chill for the known fact that he knows what certain things mean when it comes down to the nitty gritty. He asks us questions and we answer them in the best way we know how. I'm Latina  so I don't sugarcoat my words. Christian or not it's important to teach our kids things that may considered a sin. The things he has said is proof that he is definitley not sheltered, but cultured. It's been interesting to watch grow up. To hear him respond to his teachers on his own without asking me, "what do I tell her?" He will do really well in middle school if he keeps this up.

I only have about five Noah-isms to write so here they are...

Yayoi Kusama- Cosmic Nature Exhibit Part II

Kusama certainly has an obsession for polkadots. Whether they're wrapped around a tree or placed in a fountain it looks so magical. As soon as we entered the NYBG this big starfish was the first piece of art we saw and it is so much beautiful in person. You can view part one of this post with more of her artwork here. This cute little shed filled with flowers was one of our favorites at the Kusama exhibit. Such a magical interactive work of art. You are given a flower sticker and you can place it anywhere in the room. I'm glad we came later on in the month that way we can see how it looks when its filled up with so many sticky flowers. The kids took a while finding a spot because it was pretty full. Noah found the perfect spot and Chelsea took a little video of me placing one on a hanging plant which you can view here. Such a beautiful gesture and her idea came from a dream. I honestly hope this brightens up your week because I still can't get over the red/pinkish color. What a creative mind Kusama has!

Yayoi Kusama- Cosmic Nature Exhibit!

In spite of having surgery (which I'll blog about later) so much fun happened way before then and the fact that we went to one of our favorite artists exhibit at the NYBG was the highlight of our spring. Yayoi Kusama is extraordinary and her exhibit as always was whimsical and amazing. We all went and as a family had the best day ever. We spent all day at the gardens and walked so many miles. Good thing we went before the bad luck hit with my emergency surgery recently! I had these tickets for a month and because I took sooooo many photos will break it up into two posts. So first I will show off some photos of her amazing artwork. From the polkadot octopus to the shiny pumpkins inside the garden. This amazing lady is 92 years old and how wonderful it is for her to continue to take time to express her soul through art. I mean...just look at these photos and you'll see why I captured so much. These pics don't do it justice! So if you get a chance try to take advantage of this exhibit. It'll be on display until this Halloween and it's worth every penny to see it! You can also check out the first time we saw one of her exhibits here. Can't wait to go inside the infinity room again!

Happy May Day!

I can't believe May is here and that there are less than seven weeks of school left! Can you give me a woot woot! As much as I don't want my kids to get older I look forward to this pandemic zoom school year being over. I love that my kids are home learning but at the same time they need to go back.....FULL TIME. Schools here in Jersey barely opened up but this hybrid didn't work for us and it just seems simpler to finish the school year off at home. So they are and now we all can't wait to finish! The weather has been absolutely perfect lately and the cherry trees are in full bloom. Not much longer until they are no longer in bloom but we have been taking advantage of capturing moments with them in pictures! So here are a few from our neighborhood and hope that this month brings so much health and beauty to your soul!
