Noah's Dreamland in a Contest

I began posting these pics of Noah on Facebook in the summer of 2010. I started my blog in January of last year, and never thought to post them on my blog...until now.

I was inspired by a blog called Mila's daydreams. This young mom did more elaborate photos with her little girl, and they were so cute!! I was so new to Facebook, and wanted to do something fun with Noah. I thank Adele for being a huge inspiration to me, and to other parents as well. It made me feel less guilty to know there were other parents doing the same thing with their kid. 

She also has a new book that just came out earlier this week, and I am so happy for her. Her little girl is so cute and not a baby anymore (just like Noah.) I know that if I lived in Finland, we'd be great friends! 

Because she inspired so many parents to create their own dream picture of their child, she is doing a competition for those who have created dream photos with their kids.

 I am going to enter one of Noah's photos in it. So if you can be so kind as to taking the time to tell me which one you liked best. I'd appreciate it!

This was one of the best things that I have ever done with you as a baby, and if I ever had another one...I would do it again! I dislike that your growing up too quickly!

A Nightmare in Dreamland

This photo was inspired by Mila's Daydreams, and I replicated it somewhat to hers. I also did a little album making up some of my own ideas and I titled his little book 'Noah's Dreamland'. It may not be as cute, but the baby in this picture sure is. Noah was 11 months old when I took this photo. It seems as if he hasn't changed that much! He's still petite and looks the same. I wanted to publish this in honor of  our Halloween week.

The girls are counting down the days to Halloween and look forward to dressing up...again. I really think it's all about the candy, and the costumes. I'm a mother who doesn't have a sweet tooth and a mother who hardly ever buys any candy...not even in moderation. It's usually around the holiday seasons (like now) in which I begin to splurge and spoil the kiddos (even Noah) with candy, caramel apples, and caramel corn balls. There is one condition...they need to brush their teeth A LOT!!!!

To be honest, Halloween is not my favorite holiday, but it sure is fun to see what everyone is dressed up as. We have seen some funky costumes, but I know it's all in good fun. My girls love to dress up! For my six year old, that is the only time she is allowed to wear any kind of makeup if her costume requires it! It's all worth being scared even if it's just for one night. 

In a way...I'm kind of glad it only happens once a year!

A Pumpkin patch in Dreamland

Looking at Noah's Dreamland on this fall rainy day uplifts my spirit. I have been enjoying this time cuddling with Noah indoors. So far he's not sick, and I hope he stays that way! He always wants me to read to him, and play indoor soccer with him. He also enjoys entertaining himself with Thomas the train and his other cars while I am writing this. 

 This is Noah's pumpkin patch in Dreamland. As I look back at all the pictures I've done on him...some of them have come true. He's been to two real pumpkin patches this fall and he had the time of his life. I would have never been able to come up with this idea if it wasn't for Adele's blog. I thank her for giving me her blessing into creating my own ideas and mocking some of hers. I did come up with my own you know. I am capable of thought, and am grateful for that part of creativity in my brain (typed that with a smile.)

I am so glad that I had the time and patience in taking these pictures of him while he was a  little baby. He might be embarrassed when he's older, but I know that he'll appreciate them too. For those of you who are experiencing rainy fall weather, I hope that looking at this photo brightens up your day.

Oh! I need to go now. Noah is climbing on the back of my chair! 

The Story behind Noah's Dreamland

For the past couple of weeks I have been getting e-mails from various friends telling me that I have some competition and that some other lady is doing the same thing with my idea of Noah's Dreamland.

 Not so. I feel the need to set the record straight.

 I'm creative... but not that creative to come up with the setting of Noah's Dreamland.

One day I came across a blog called Mila's Daydreams. Adele Enerson is in advertising and lives in Finland. Apparently her photos became an overnight sensation and she became popular all over the web. I thought they were the most adorable photos I have ever seen. I was looking at some of the pictures Adele had been doing with her daughter and I was inspired to do the same thing with Noah. Of course, her pictures are ingenious, gorgeous, and much more clever than mine!

Noah is my first son and I wanted to do something fun with him. I figured since there is a cute baby girl being dressed up in an imaginative setting while sleeping...why not a baby boy. I sent Adele an e-mail asking her permission if it would be alright to mock her idea and do the same thing with my son. To my surprise, she responded right away and gave me her blessing. She said that Noah is me and my husbands work of art and that we could do the same thing. She was so agreeable and she also asked me if I had any other publishing in mind. She also mentioned to me about her Fan Art Facebook page and told me that I could put Noah's photos on it. Apparently, there are other families doing the same thing with their kid.

Till this day, I still haven't put any pictures up of Noah. The day I was going to upload a few I read on her blog that someone had used one of her pictures of Mila on a banner without her permission! Unfortunately, there are dishonest people out there who use photos without asking the owner. She is no longer posting photos of Mila, but she is coming out with a book in January of 2012. I am so excited and look forward to being one of the first owners of her book.

I'm very thankful to have come across the blog Mila's Daydreams and to have had the opportunity to have fun with my son. Noah may look back at these photos and be embarrassed, but at least he'll have a memory of him that he can share with his future posterity.
