Noah's First Pinewood Derby!

Last night Noah, and I got to experience our first pinewood derby event ever, and it was pretty cool. The fact that we literally only had two weeks to assemble the kit, design, sand, saw, drill, and paint didn't overwhelm us in any way. Just kidding!! Luckily I have a patient husband, and a boy who took his time in preparing his car. His little "hot rod" didn't place this year, but the main take away from this event was that Noah had fun!

Since this was Noah's first pinewood derby event I took a few shots of the kids focusing on the race. You can see the concentration on their faces as the cars are passing them by.
The older scouts joined in to cheer our cub scouts, and in my eyes everyone did a good job tonight, and everyone was a winner in their own way!
These two are like two peas in a pod, and luckily they were good sports when they announced whose car was the fastest. Their cars were awesome, and it was fun looking at all them go down the track more than once.

So glad Jon took the time off to join in on this special event with our boy. It brought back memories for him when he was a young scout building his own car, and are so grateful for this program. It truly teaches Noah creativity, and skill, and hopefully next year we will receive the kits in time so that Noah can prepare his car more diligently, and that the sparkly paint he used won't be so dry!!!

****Special thanks to Brent Nieslsen who helped Noah drill the holes in his car. He assisted him in doing it, and Noah had so much fun wearing goggles, and holding on to the handle while Brent drilled.
