I Have a Junior In High School...Whoa!

This is the 180th day of high school for my daughter who is now officially a junior! Boy do I feel old!! Just kidding. I am actually looking forward to her accomplishments next year and all that she will do in bringing forth to our community. Here are just a few highlights & accomplishments of her sophomore year:
It was a great start for 2010-2011...

Last October, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the township honored and recognized Sierra as an outstanding Latina member in our community. This was quite an accomplishment being that it was our second year living in New Jersey, and didn't think we would make a name for ourselves in our township.

Can you believe we are going on four years living in NJ?
Here we are with the Senator and Mayor of our township.
Sierra is involved with the theatre and loves the drama department. She practically had to beg me to be in the school musical this year among with other plays. I am glad I allowed for her to be in something that she absolutely loves.

Sierra played Cinderella's step-mother in this spring's musical, "Into the Woods"...

She was in the 10th grade One Acts Play titled "The Not So Grimm Tales", in which their class won the award this year. She played the daughter of a mother who was telling the story of modified, various fairy tales.
She was asked to be an escort in the Mr. Highland contest. This picture depicts her singing a duet with Eddie Olmo II who was her escort (not date.)
Sierra LOVES to sing, and I am very impressed with her natural singing ability. She has never taken any voice lessons. It's a natural talent that she has, and sings beautifully. She is in the H.S. Choir and an elite member of the Choral.

She continues to be the high school pianist for the choir as well.
She LOVES tennis and played pretty well being that it was her first year. She's improved! I look forward to attending the games, and watching her play next year.

On top of having four honors classes, being part of the student council, early morning seminary, being active with her youth group at our church, and being involved in all of these activities at school, she also took piano lessons and had her spring recital. She played really well without killing herself with practicing everyday. She had her priorities in order which was school, and continues to maintain over a 4.0 GPA.

I realized that every person is different, and some may have been able to handle all these things without getting overwhelmed. I was one of those people (25 years ago without playing piano, and attending seminary of course.) Things have changed since then. Generations today compared to five years ago have it different today. Not everyone is going to be like the other. I am happy to see that Sierra is exquisite and a unique individual. We are so pleased on all that she's accomplished this past year.

Can't wait what the next year will bring for her!

KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK SIERRA!

YOU. ARE. AWESOME!!
