A youth temple trip.

This past Saturday was Lexie's first temple trip with the youth from her ward. Although she went with her dad, and sister a few days after she turned 12, she said how doing temple work with people she knew felt more comfortable for her than being in a group with people she just met. She has a great attitude though, and will go no matter whether it's with her ward or random people.
She and her sister drove down in separate cars, and Lexie was happy to have ridden with these wonderful girls. The two and a half hour drive consisted of doing word searches with Ashley, and sudoko. So far Alex feels right at home being one of the newest girls in the young women. They have all welcomed her with love, and acceptance in being part of the sisterhood. I always ask the girls how their church activities went, and so when they returned from the temple that evening they were a little too tired to talk so we continued our conversation the next morning.

As we were getting ready for church I asked Lexie again about how the temple trip went & she was smiling ear to ear. She even bore her testimony about it at church. "I really love the feeling I receive when I go", she said. She continued to tell me that she feels "different" when she returns. Different meaning inspired. She has more of the desire to be a good person, and to do better with herself. I personally think Lexie is already a wonderful child, and kind to everyone, but there is always, always room for any kind of improvement.

And that's exactly what I told her why we go is to improve, and to inspire. We as a family go for those reasons. We go to improve on our weaknesses, and to receive inspiration so that we can leave the temple grounds being a much stronger, and better person.

Attending the temple brings a feeling of peace knowing that no matter what worldly thing gets in our way...attending the temple is one way of letting it all go.
