New York pizza & a tribute

It has never been a dream of mine to go to New York, or ever live there, but when we moved from North Carolina to New Jersey almost four years ago I count my blessings for making that move. We absolutely love living close to New York, and everything about it. We try to take advantage of exploring new places in the city from museums to eating at different restaurants, and taking our kids to different parks in the city, (and there are a lot of them!) We live about an hour and a half away, but it doesn't seem that long once we arrive. Everything is connected to Jersey, and it's not like Texas or Utah where you see endless miles of flat land or desert before you see the next city. I'm sorry, but that got really boring for me!!
We now have a love for Brooklyn, and attempted to venture out to new fun filled places. The only thing we didn't get to do is eat at Grimaldi's. Don't ever come here during Spring break because the line was this long...

The line continued all the way to the building behind the Grimaldi's building! Crazy huh???

With two little ones in tow that were famished we decided not to wait in line for two hours! So we took our business to Manhattan where we ate at our usual place which was Charlys. They have the best pizza, burgers, sandwiches, french fries, and huge burritos you'll ever see! After eating New York pizza you will never want to go back to eating at Papa John's, Pizza Hut, or any of the corporate chain pizza restaurants. Charlys is located about a block away from where the Freedom tower is being built.

Sometimes it can be disheartening to walk past to where the twin towers once stood, but then I look around at all the new yorkers, and can see that life has moved on. Knowing that the city has somewhat healed from the terrorist attacks brings me comfort to know that it's okay to feel alive, to have fun, and to be happy when we come here. Although they may have healed from that terrible day, life may never be the same. I know that this tower will be a symbol, and a reminder to them that their New York is strong. I don't feel guilty enjoying myself knowing that the Freedom tower signifies that, and by having that tower being built gives me hope that my family and I will be safe whenever we come to the city of lights.
It was a very good day for all of us!
