Teen Pep & an art show

Ms. Smith, Sierra, Ms. P, & G
A couple of months ago Sierra was interviewed and chosen to be in Teen Pep for her senior year next year.

For those of you who don't know what teen pep is it is the ultimate health class where the kids discuss sexual education. This class is not all about sex. Oh no it isn't! If anything they will encourage abstinence. These kids talk to incoming freshman once a month about safety issues, homophobia, how to abstain from sex, and how to protect yourself. They don't promote promiscuity and they certainly don't encourage it! If they did my daughter would not be a part of it! In order to be a "teen pepper" you have to be a strong leader, come in with an open mind, be fearless, mature, and have a good heart .

I am grateful for this program and wish that other high schools nationwide had this. Kids today are having babies far too young, and are not protecting themselves. I know that this program will help not only help those they are teaching, but help themselves as well.

I know that Sierra will be a great candidate (teen pepper) in this program because of what she is taught at church. She keeps the the law of chastity, and is not naive when it comes to anything that deals with sex. Luckily I am a fearless mother who has already talked to her about the birds and the bees way before this, and we continue to have an open relationship when it comes to this topic.

All of these students will become a different person by the end of the year, and build a unity among their friendships. I have seen it firsthand with the seniors that are graduating in a couple of weeks.
They had a passing of the torch ceremony in which some of the "old teen peppers" chose a "new teen pepper" to give some words of wisdomSierra was chosen by Tom Shaw who wrote her a sweet letter in what she has to look forward to. He knows she'll be excellent in this program because of her example, attitude, and personality.

Teen pep also fell on the same night as the art show. There is a lot of talent in this school, and I took a few pictures of their artwork.

Here we have:
mandalas

presidential coins

slab boxes

lovely silhouettes
humongous candy bars !
Sierra has had back to back school events throughout this whole week, and I have to admit that I am glad it's Friday! I did savor every memory, and minute of all that has occurred this week, but we all look forward to having a long summer break!

Finals for her are next week! Wish her luck!

Hello June!
